Smitty's Cafe and Bakery

Nice little place. Most of us enjoyed the food, burgers sandwiches, etc. The kids were on the fence with theirs. The French Fries and and chips were too spicy. I would not recommend if you have picky young eaters. We had 4 kids, 5 and under. We adults loved our food. I am looking forward to the leftovers.

02/16/19- breakfast around 1000. The place is small and was packed, we got the last table. Waitresses were pleasant. Service was a little slow due to the number of full tables, but not a problem. Scrambled eggs were fluffy, eggs over hard were fine. Potatoes were very good and so was the thick bacon. Giant pancake was also fluffy and good. The very hard, very cold biscuit and lukewarm gravy might've been good a half hour before we arrived, but it just sucked when I attempted to eat it. Wasn't able to trade it for a better one as our waitress was busy. Most of the food was good, but check your stuff before the waitress gets away!

Omg! The food I got from this place was amazing! They have an appetizer called boudin egg rolls. I'm from New Orleans and that was the best boudin I've ever had outside of Louisiana. Definitely get that! For my meal I got The Ugly Coyote Burger, if you like juicy bacon grease covered burgers topped with an egg, this is the one for you! I freaking loved it. My husband got the chicken fried steak and he really liked it! Definitely coming back to try other things on the menu 😁

AWESOME burger always good food

So happy that we decided to try Smitty's for dinner while we were in Brenham! The fried green beans were to die for...my husband and I couldn't stop eating them! I got the BLT...basic right?...wrong!! They bake their bread fresh daily and it totally made the sandwich! And don't leave without a slice of pie....the Millionaire was divine...a chocolate, pecan, coconut lovers dream!!!

Food is great. Highly recommend chicken fried steak (platter or sandwich), the ole (Mexican, can't remember what it's called) burger, chicken salad. Servers are very nice and welcoming, though they tend to get busy and forget to bring things to the table you ordered. Desserts are fantastic. If you are at all sensitive to cigarette smoke (as I am), you may have some problems. Highly recommend the restaurant otherwise.

Really good home cooking. The best chicken-fried steak in town, and a contender for the best in Texas. Menu has a good variety of sandwiches, salads, burgers, etc. Love the onion rings. Good salad bar. You can get large or small portions of several dishes. The service is friendly.... but not necessarily that attentive

Did the lunch special, hamburger steak with mashed potatoes & green beans and brown onion gravy. Good for the most part, he steak kinda small, and could lighten up on the salt a little in the gravy. Other than that pretty good.

Everything was great! We came in with a party of nine and got seated right away. The server was very attentive and always made sure we had everything we needed. The chicken fried steak is amazing!

They were neck deep in catering for Thanksgiving and operating on a limited menu and overtaxed staff, and yet, delivered delicious food with a smile and a great attitude. The Firecracker Burger and handmade chips were fantastic! The stuffed avocado salad was delicious and the chicken-fried steak was tender. I will eat there again my next time through Brenham.
