Smitty's Cafe and Bakery

Smitty’s was so good! We came for breakfast and had the pancakes and chicken and biscuits. Both were delicious. Excellent service and love the decor.

Good food and friendly service. This place had some great southern food options and a great cookie selection. The bar in the back had several pool tables and looks like a nice place to relax. We had lunch on our visit, but I bet breakfast is a real treat. Would visit again!

I very seldom give 5 stars, but I love this place. Loved our waitress too. First time here and will definitely be back with the rest of the family.

After the last 2 visits I won't be back. Food use to be good. Today's visit breakfast: under cooked everything, took forever, and food was ice cold, biscuits were left over from yesterday, and not even reheated. Last visit dinner: pretty much the same stuff, waited an 1.5 hrs, listen to the cook yelling in the back about how good he was, and his tip out better be good all while we are waiting for our food. Only wish he cared about the quality of the food half as much as he cared about his tip. Seems like the attitude in the kitchen is contagious to the wait staff. My suggestion fire the kitchen staff and start over. Sad to see the staff in the kitchen ruin this place.

Don't let the unassuming facade fool you. This is a great country cooking restaurant. I got the half order special of country fried steak and mashed potatoes, then added fried okra. The fried okra was probably the best I've had in a decade or more. The fried steak was a substantial portion - a full order could probably feed a family - and it was so good. Crispy crust with delicious gravy. The people are friendly and the service is fast. If you are in Brenham and hungry, you have to stop here!

Great home style breakfast, home made biscuits, gravy, potatoes, everything was very good! Service was great! Next time I’m in the area, I’ll plan on another breakfast here.

The service was a tad slow, but otherwise was excellent. My cob salad and my wife's sandwich were absolutely delicious. We stopped here on our way through town and I would recommend this to anyone wanting a delicious bite.

Stopped by for lunch as my friends and I were doing the Bluebonnet Wine Trail through Brenham. We waited at least 30-45 minutes for our food to come out after ordering, which wasn't ideal but they said that they were very busy. The food was pretty good, but not necessarily a place that i would go out of my way to visit again. I ordered a 1/2 sized burger (I think it was the mexi-burger, or something similarly named) with avocado, jalapeno, cream cheese, and mayo...I thought pico de gallo may have been listed as an ingredient, but it wasn't on the burger that I ate. Fries were hand sliced, but a tad burnt/fried for too long. Otherwise, it was fine.

The food and staff are both wonderful! Be sure not to leave until you try one of their desserts. The lemon and pecan bars are fantastic
