Smitty's Cafe and Bakery

Food was Hot and fresh service was great.

This quaint bakery and cafe is a gem. It had country charm and looks like it could be lifted right off the set of a movie featuring small town TX. My wife had breakfast and it was delicious. The biscuits are a must try! I got a bacon cheese burger--thick slab, delicious bacon, I might add--and was very pleased. The fries were awesome!

We went at 11:30am and got seated right away but the place was busy and there was constant traffic.

Very friendly and attentive service.

Only complaint is that it was smoky where we were seated. I think it was from the billiards upstairs.

Still, this was a great experience overall and my wife and I would definitely go back and bring our friends and family!

P.S.: They had fun with their menu. Read it all just for laughs!

Best darn chicken fried steak this side of the Brazos hands down! All their food is delicious and the head Chef has some amazing creations and twists on some of the classics in Texas' cuisine.

Absolutely loved this place when it was downtown. Spoke of it highly to everyone I knew. My husband and I have been to the new location several times, service is awful. Watched three waitress chatting while waited to be seated for about 5 minutes.The cook has never listened to OVER EASY eggs, the egg white is slimy. My husband returned them twice and finally said to heck with it. My meal, pancakes burnt on one side, sausage and bacon was undercooked, never flipped. It was not busy at all for the service to be they was it was, no excuse for uncooked or overcooked meal. The coffee was sensational!
We never complain about our food nor service, but this needed to be said.

Smitty's Cafe and BAKERY was a delightful surprise on our way back to Salado from a wedding in Brenham. From the unassuming location to the thoughtfully clever interior I felt like I was part of a local secret of deliciousness! The food really was some of the best homemade classics I have had. Don't miss it. And thank you to dude at the taqueria who gave us the tip to go to Smitty's! :)

Let's start off w/happy hour at a breakfast cafe!!!! YES gawd! The homey little diner has the most beautiful cedar benches and the food was BIG! BIG and good! BIG, GOOD, and inexpensive!!!!!
The service was awesome.....does anything else need to be said. NO well okay! If you are in Brenham on 290 west STOP AND ENJOY!

Food was good. Recommend the onion rings.
The staff is really nice. Then your service is not that great. They were all over the place. We sat ourselves, then waited 25 mins no one came to wait on us. Went up to the counter waited in line more, then when it was our turn to ask to order all the staff disappeared. Then a waitress from the bar are come over to use the register. She told us she would take our order. We ordered, food was wrong. Then waited more for the receipt which never came. We had to go back up to the counter to pay. The waiters were all over, no one was in charge.

Have been here for lunch on three separate ocassions since we moved here. We have tried chicken fried steaks, fried catfish, cheeseburgers, French fries, fried okra, strawberry shortcake, and 3 different cookies. The food was promptly delivered and tasted delicious. The restaurant was clean and uniquely decorated, the service was outstanding. We were greeted and checked on by very attentive waitstaff throughout out our meal. My wife and I have been pleased each time.

Stopped by for a quick lunch. I had the caliburger which was big and delicious. My wife had the stuffed avocado...again large and in charge and super good. The service staff was excellent and the place has a cool vibe very relaxing atmosphere and there's a bar area in the back with pool tables. And very reasonable prices. Overall I recommend this place.

Awesome home cooked breakfast! The waitstaff is always so kind. The only things you may want to know, it’s a bit smokey smelling because it’s connected to a bar that allows smoking. Also, service can be a little slow but it’s totally worth it, so just go in knowing these things and you will be completely satisfied with your meal! I love their biscuits
