One of the most amazing experiences. If you have not tried this gem, it is a must. First off you are greeted by the most amazing hostess I have ever met. Such southern hospitality. She is such a mom, which makes the experience so beautiful as it was. We were greeted and introduced and taken to the bar to sit before we had dinner. The bar atmosphere is so beautiful. The whole restaurant is breath taking to begin with. I have not even gotten to the food. We were seated, and she kept checking on our dining experience the whole time. The food melts in your mouth. A must when you come to nashville!! Many know about it, our first time. I would come back...just to experience "mom" again. Such a beautiful soul and thank you for making my birthday so amazing as you did. I felt I was at home. 13,000 sq foot facility...looking at the front of the home you would never know.

I don't even know where to start. I don't leave reviews often, but when I do, it's to acknowledge an outstanding experience, something The Standard delivered and exceeded our expectations! I have been to 40 states and 30 countries, and I can truly say that this was in the top three best dining experiences of my life. That being said, my wife and I have lived around Nashville for a few years and have always wanted to eat here, and this weekend couldn’t have been a better excuse to splurge. My wife became a U.S. citizen this past week, then a few days after, it was our fourth wedding anniversary, and then next week is her birthday! Unfortunately, no reservations were available, but Sharon helped us get in at the last minute on a Saturday. We’re so unbelievably lucky and grateful because I NEEDED that experience.
We arrived at 7:45 sharp and were whisked away to our table, where Rylee took care of us for the evening. The ambiance was so warm and inviting. The restaurant was quiet, with music playing subtly in the background, with tunes like Frank Sinatra to set the mood. We started with some drinks and the Filet Tartare. When I say it was another level, it was on another level. We were about to order another, but Rylee showed up with our Caesar salad, the best I’ve had in a long time. From there, the main course arrived – I was close to getting the seabass, but my wife talked some sense into me, and we both went with the Standard Filet. This is why men need a better half because sometimes, you need sense talked into you! My wife was spot-on, and this was, by far, the best steak I’ve ever eaten, which says a lot because I’ve been to steakhouses in Brazil and Argentina, two countries known for their beef. This blew those out of the water. We both ordered it rare, and it was cooked to perfection.
We savored every bite. I don’t usually eat that slowly, but I needed to make this last. Finally, the last bite came, and I was so sad. Everything about this was perfection – the truffle, the sauce, the steak – I’ve never had a combination like it. We were about to call it a night, but Rylee came over and offered us a heated-up red velvet cookie with Madagascar vanilla ice cream on top. Holy moly, YES. Ugh. Everything about the Standard was absolute perfection. Sometimes, you might be inclined to check out the newer modern steakhouse overlooking the city, overlooking a place like The Standard – I implore you to reconsider and GO HERE. From the service to the Southern hospitality to the food and drinks, this is what perfection looks like, which, as most of you know, is a challenge to find in today’s world. All I can tell you is that I had dreams of their steak last night, and we are already planning our next visit. See y’all soon, and thanks again for everything.

Not sure really where to begin with this one.
I don’t really write a lot of negative reviews—I try to give everyone multiple chances (we all have a bad days).
So you can decide if my experience was just a bad day or if you should go somewhere else before dropping $400 on dinner.
We booked an early reservation at 5:15 and upon entering we were asked by the hostess if we want to enjoy a cocktail at the bar (the place was eerily empty) we decided that since most of us were doing dry January—we’d just go to our table (which seemed to annoy the hostess).
We ordered lobster dip and fried green tomatoes for an appetizer. The lobster dip was meh but the fried green tomatoes were the worst i’ve had ( they needed some seasoning desperately)….they offered to add an another slice of tomato—it only cost an additional $5 🤷🏽♂️😂.
We got our meals and they were decent—probably half of my steak was plain fat but I just sort of accepted it at this point. The waiter seemed unresponsive when we mentioned how bad the tomatoes were.
Speaking of the waiter—I had mentioned to him earlier that we would love to see the house and the room they rent out for larger groups (in case the meal was good and our business wanted to host an event there). He told me that he couldn’t do that because there was another department that did that—I asked him how to connect with them and he said, “actually i’m over that department”?! He never gave me any more information or direction on how to book the place (i’d hate to be the owner and lose the potential 20-25k that we could have spent).
I went to the restroom during the meal and asked the waiter to point out the location since the building is truly a haunted maze. He told me it was at the end of the hall—when I opened the door at the end of the hall I laughed because it was a supply closet. The same hostess (behaving pretentiously)said with indignation in her voice—“the restroom is around the corner and too the left…this is a closet.”
After dinner we bought desert (the skillet cookie—ironically served not in a skillet but a ceramic baking dish). The cookie was probably the best dish of night—skillet or no skillet.
After paying the bill (which they brought us the wrong check after giving them my card)—we set at
the table with our friends for about 5 minutes enjoying our time together, celebrating 15 years at the company we founded together (where i’m the C.E.O.) when the same hostess appeared and told us it was time for us to leave since they had another party coming in and needed our table.
Such a strange night and bad experience—members of our staff had given us a gift card to celebrate fifteen years working together.
Honestly—The Standard was anything but the standard for good fine dining—it was more like the Sub Par. Sadly, I am pretty confident that The Standard won’t be around when we celebrate our next work anniversary because this type of establishment won’t cut in Nashville today.

Supreme experience. We reserved the wine cellar dining experience for our dinner with clients. The room was perfect and the service was 2nd to none.
I can't say enough about the food. Every one of us raved.

I've been to a lot of good restaurants and I have to say this one is one of the best I've been to. The service was top notch, ton of history, great ambiance and amazing food. Rarely write reviews but felt compelled to after a great experience here. Our waiter Sean was amazing and the hostess Mrs. Smith was such a sweet heart. Highly recommend

A very unique historical venue. Excellent appetizers and main courses. Take time to look through the home if you can. I enjoyed looking at the room of Tennessee Whiskey.

This is a must visit while in Nashville!
The bar has a great selection of whiskey and wine. It’s a cozy bar with a fireplace, unfortunately live music wasn’t an option the night I visited.
Was too busy eating the rest of my meal and didn’t get more pics. The sampler appetizer isn’t listed on the menu but it’s a must order; fried green tomatoes, calamari and the low country shrimp. The Standard Filet.... nothing more to say, order it and thank me later!
