I've lived in Nashville on various occasions and currently have been here for over 7 years and had never heard of The Standard before. That was my loss. This historic building is amazing all by itself, but inside is a restaurant that prepares some very good food, particularly steaks.
I got to experience this location with a group of friends as a holiday party recently and was very impressed with the overall experience. Service was superb, the historical information shared by everyone from the head valet, to our server and even the owner of the home added to the overall experience of the night.
We started with an appetizer sampler that included Fried Green Tomatoes with Lump Crab Meat and Creole Mustard Remoulade, Calamari with Cherry Pepper Remoulade (particularly delish!), and Filet Mignon Tartare with Shallots, Lemon Aioli, Parsley on a Baked Crostini. Everything was very good. I also added a potatoe soup in a bread bowl, which was a nice addition and choice for my meal.
For the entree, I went with The Standard filet, medium rare. The steak is served on a truffle hash cake (think hashbrowns) and some Fried Tobacco Onions on top (onion straws). Our table chose a variety of side dishes including: Sauteed Asparagus, Bacon Braised Green Beans with Balsalmic and The Standard Creamed Corn. All-in-all, everything was an enjoyable meal.
I didn't particularly favor the green beans, but the creamed corn was absolutely fantastic! It's roasted first in some bacon grease I believe and that makes all the difference. A bit of a warning, both for size of serving and just because it's so good... do NOT plan on sharing with anyone! If somebody else wants corn, you tell them to order a side for themselves!
The only downside of the night was my wife's steak (she ordered the same Standard Filet, medium), it was a completely different experience for her. Compared to my steak and the others that also got the filet at our table hers was tough to cut with the knife and even tougher to chew. Kind of ruined her appetite for the rest of the meal, but The Standard Club Half-Baked Cookie with Vanilla Bean Ice Cream helped her to quickly forget the less than delightful chunk of beef previously sitting before her.

My first time to Nashville and the Standard was described as a must visit. Since it was a Tuesday, I was able to get a reservation. So much history, amazing architecture and food! Have the pork chop; it’s heavenly. Did I mention the hospitality? Mrs. Smith, whose family once lived in the townhome turned restaurant, seats every guest. She’s so very charming and welcoming. Come early so you can have an expertly prepared cocktail in a speakeasy style space. What a treat!!!

This was by far the best service experience I have had in Nashville. From the moment we pulled into their complimentary valet we we're treated like royalty. What an amazing piece of history. A true gem. We will absolutely be dining here again. The Standard is the gold standard for excellent service and delicious food.

My husband and I celebrated my birthday here and it was AMAZING! Caleb, Michelle, and Mrs. Smith were so intentional and made me feel so special and celebrated. The food is amazing, as always. The food makes The Standard special, but the staff makes The Standard stellar. Hands down the BEST restaurant in Nashville. Thank you The Standard, Mrs. Smith, Michelle and Caleb. We enjoyed our time so much.

No words can entirely describe the place. Incredible service and food was one of the top steaks we’ve ever had. We came for our anniversary and we had one of the best times we’ve had at a restaurant. I highly recommend this place and their atmosphere was intimate and quite which adds to the wonderful uniqueness of the experience.

Took out of town visitors here for dinner. Wanted to give them an "authentic" Nashville dining experience. In short, the food was great and the service and hospitality even better.
From start to finish the experience was great. The doorman was friendly and greeted us with a short background on the house history. The hostess was very friendly and shared that she was a member of one of the founding families.
The food was very good as well. Our lobster appetizer for the table was very good. The fish special I ordered was cooked perfectly and slightly spicy. Very tasty. Everyone enjoyed their meal.

Had dinner at the Standard October 25. Was greeted warmly at the door, and guided to our table. Ordered an old fashioned which seemed very appropriate for the rich vibe the place exudes. Had the Standard steak, which was prepared with perfection. The service was impeccable. Skip going to Mortons around the corner and check out the Standard. You will be rewarded with one of Nashville's best meals.

Wow, what a fabulous place. The food, the service, the history, are all amazing. It was built in the late 1840's but has been restored back to it's original glory. Do yourself a favor and make a reservation. At the time of my visit, world class magician Justin Flom was performing there. I was blown away by his illusions and tricks. So, when in Nashville, treat yourself to a wonderful meal while enjoying the very pleasant and historic atmosphere.
