I'm in town visiting a sick family member at UPMC. I visited for my first time on Monday October 4th and the person who rang me up was rude and aggresively waved the card reader in front of me to get me to leave a tip. I stepped back because I was put off by his behaviour and didn't want to leave a tip. When I got my bank statement, I saw he went ahead and added a $1 tip to my order anyway without my permission. I emailed the store using the contact info on their website and no one replied. I would be very careful there. One of their cashiers has no problem stealing money from you if he gets a chance.

ive only ever had overwhelmingly positive experiences here. the coffee is amazing especially for the affordable price you're paying. all of the baristas and the owner included are incredibly friendly and go out of their way to interact with customers. Oakland's needed a good coffee shop for a long time and that's exactly whet redhawk is. 5/5

Red Hawk has an interesting aesthetic where it feels like a messy yet cozy home. It's rather small with very little sitting space, so not necessarily for working or large groups. Despite this, it's a nice place to sit and relax while drinking coffee, and is well within walking distance of other spots and the campus (Pitt) itself.

The coffee itself is incredibly well done. The baristas were knowledgeable and able to answer questions about the coffee, including location, growth, origin, and time of roast. They were also skilled, producing a good macchiato and rather good latte art.

Overall, this is a near ideal coffee shop. If there were more sitting space it would likely earn the title "perfect." As it is, it's still worth a visit.

They seem to love what they do at Redhawk. The passion shows up as hot, fresh, rich coffee; a super-friendly barista who sings you his wishes for a great day; and inexpensive prices. Too bad there isn't more seating - I would have enjoyed drinking my coffee there. The shop is closed at times when one would expect a coffee shop to be open, including early Saturday and all day Sunday. An overall winner but not a destination.

Great little place!! Guys behind the counter were awesome and fun to talk to! I love that they use the thick milk from Brunton's dairy, it makes a great mocha and I can't wait to try the hot chocolate. I can't wait to go back!

I've lived in PGH for about 2 years and I would say this is the quintessential Pittsburgh cafe. I go here often even though it's super out of the way because the coffee (both drip and espresso) is the best in the city and the employees/owners are very friendly. Excellent and quality techniques, every drink tastes incredible. One important thing is it's also remarkably consistent. Of the many dozens of drinks I've ordered here I can't really recall a time the drink wasn't up to their own high standard. This is not something I would say about many other cafes in Pittsburgh (although there are many good coffee shops I find that they are hit or miss). If you come here you're practically guaranteed a great drink.

Only negative quality is it's a bit small. To be fair, any third wave coffee shop in Pittsburgh tends to be packed so it's not really unique in that regard.

Excellent coffee and professional staff with an extensive knowledge and selection. Perfectly curated interiors make you want to linger in the shop all day and neglect whatever mundane responsibilities you are being tortured with that day :)

Really cool vibe and employees. I was able to study with ease while drinking a bottomless cup of coffee! Place can get crowded because it's good so get there at a time when there is not heavy traffic. Music is great too!

To say that Redhawk's coffee is just "good" is almost unfair - you'll be hard pressed to find a better cup around than the fresh brew at Redhawk. The delicious brew kept me coming over and over again throughout my years at school at Pitt and I always enjoy coming back whenever I'm in town.

Truly the best coffee Oakland has to offer, and arguably the best in the city, RedHawk is a destination seek out anytime I am in the area. The staff is impeccable, always keeping a friendly vibe with casual conversation and playful banter. My coffee is never burnt, always flavorful, and clearly brewed wth care. After even just a short trip, I leave feeling rejuvenated, and ready to confront anything the day has to offer.
