This gem of a place in the heart of Oakland. Even if this shop was far away from campus I would still go here. Their coffee is great and they have the friendliest baristas out of all of the coffee bars I have been to in Pittsburgh (10+). As an aside, the shop is small so I don't usually go here to study.

Baristas are super personal and helpful. Seem like they really enjoy their job which sets the tone for the cafe.
Menu is simple with a handful of non coffee based options. As well as a small selection of pastry options.
Spot over all is small but cozy with seating for maybe 12-15 and no bathroom. Consistent flow of people for to go coffee which shows that there coffee options are good.
Close to PITT campus with East walkability as well.

The baristas here are always wicked nice in my experience. It’s a bit cramped, and you probably won’t find a spot to sit. They have oat milk (yay) but I find their coffee to be slightly too bitter.
Centrally located by Pitt and makes a good place for a midday walk out to get coffee.

Great coffee and nice vibe but they need to really, really need to improve the food. Ham/Cheese croissant was disgusting and they didn't have even a heater to make it tolerable. Come on people, how hard can that be?

The team behind Redhawk is just the best. In a neighborhood full of chains this spot is really warm and welcoming. The owners have done a great job hiring a team that is just as passionate as they are. The espresso is always great with options of different roasters and the mochas is made with amazing chocolate milk. If you are near by this is a most visit.

The guys that run the place are awesome. They treat everyone as though they've been friends forever and that really helps to lighten the mood in the place. The only downside is that it can get quite loud especially around lunchtime when multiple conversations are going on at once in close quarters. But, don't let that keep you from trying the coffee; these guys make some outstanding coffee!

Redhawk serves some of the best coffee in Pittsburgh and offers a great environment to Oakland. New beans pop up all the time, which is something that many shops don't do. Art is also rotating, which is a refreshing change in scenery from time to time. All the staff is friendly, helpful, and knowledgable. I have been constantly coming back and have never left disappointed.

This is a special little place that from what I understand started out as an Espresso Truck. During my stay in Pittsburgh I went there 4 times for an Aeropress coffee. Each time it was made by a different person but tasted just as amazing. They carry quite a few roasts and roasters seem very knowledgeable on the origins and sustainability of each. Hope at some point they come to Maryland :)

Love this place. I've come here three days in a row for coffee during a meeting I had in Pitt. The staff is very friendly and great with large orders. I much rather support a smaller coffee shop than Starbucks. AND their coffee is great! And reasonably affordable.
