I never would have spent the money on overpriced donuts and coffee if i was just going to be told "youre in the way of the coffee and you should be waiting outside read the sign" not welcoming AT ALL... Have a little more tact with the people actually willing to support your small business..
follow up to their response: still don't appreciate the tone. And there was only one person behind me. Im in cannon beach weekly. I wont be returning to this bakery. period.

Nice clean tight little bakery, we had ham and cheese croissant, cheese danish, and a couple of glazed donuts with drip coffees and all of it was great! Opened at 7am, btw. First ones open.

So me and my boyfriend go to Cannon Beach like 10 times a year, it’s our favorite place. We generally exclusively go any season but summer because we love the winter time seclusion, so consequently every time we have ever gone, this bakery has been closed. This year we went on July 12th, it was a Friday and it was pretty crazy all over town, which we didn’t mind. We saw this bakery was open so we decided to stop by, and barely got s chance to glance at the food, when we were greeted with such disdain by the lady behind the counter who seemed to have no patience at all for us wanting to look at the food and seeing what they had before making a decision. She had dark curly hair and made it so that we did not even spend an entire two minutes in the bakery before decided to leave without buying anything. She impatiently asked if we were ready yet, twice, and we received many eye rolls , heavy sighs, and annoyed staring while we just wanted to decide what we wanted. it was such a lame experience and I will never go back, I want baked goods made and sold with love and friendly people! She was just so incredibly rude it wasn’t worth getting anything and we went somewhere else.
Edit: I had a bad experience, and I shared it. I can promise I would not go out of my way to fabricate a fake story about my experience, I want nothing out of this, I was just sharing my experience. I went through and triple checked the dates and the location and I was very correct, maybe the woman’s hair wasn’t that curly, but she was an older woman with dark hair. I have no interest in calling this business or going any further with my experience, thus far the attitude from everyone has been rude, and if you call that an apology it kind of sucked. I am just here sharing my negative experience, and whether they believe me or not is irrelevant to my experience. It is what it is.

It’s just too early to have your head bitten off when you ask the barista about your order (to make sure your coffee didn’t get lost- it’s happened) because the people that ordered after you got their coffee first. I was kind- it was just a question. “There were 4 people in front of you” she says in a snarky and condescending voice (there weren’t). I’m sorry you don’t like your job- please don’t take it out on me- especially this early in the morning. Good coffee by the way.

We could not be happier with the cake we received from Cannon Beach Bakery. Not only was it delicious (vanilla cake with marionberry in the middle and the most fluffy and divine buttercream frosting-YUM), it was gorgeously decorated, as well. They included all of the aspects we were interested in for our design, crafting something that fit effortlessly with our theme. Our consultation with them was similarly a great experience. We sat down with the baker, tried a wide variety of different cake flavors, and talked through our vision. Definitely come to your consultation with an empty stomach-I felt like I needed to be rolled to my car afterwards lol. The cherry on top of this great experience is that it felt really good to support a local business for our micro wedding since we love the Cannon Beach community!

Marionberry danish was good. Plenty of marionberry. Apple cider old fashioned not so much. Simply tasted like a reg old fashioned donut. Hot water is same price as hot tea without getting tea :-(.

Good evening to all,
I have dined at some of the greatest restaurants and eaten at some of the finest bakeries and from every ethnic background. My relationships with some of the great chefs have proven my integrity.
I have to say that I never have I been treated so disrespectfully by any staff at any restaurant and or bakery or any business. I am not sure if it was because of my ethnic background or if she was experiencing her own personal internal conflict.
Here is a description of what happened during our visit to this bakery:
My family and I were visiting Cannon Beach and my wife was in the mood for a pastry with her coffee. I entered this bakery and only two customers were inside the bakery . Keep in mind the bakery had several printed spots on the ground for people to stand on . There were two social distancing stickers that were vacant on the floor , where no one who was standing on those stickers. Logically thinking , a prudent person could assume that the bakery was not at capacity. There was only one lady, waiting behind me, so the business was not busy whatsoever. I walked in to view the pastries from a distance to determine what I wanted, as anyone would do so, as they entered a new bakery. The couple waiting in front of me , were a good distance away from myself and the patient lady behind me when I initially entered. Suddenly an older dark haired lady yelled at us to wait outside. We both did so without any issue not understanding her own internal policies.
The younger female employee by the register offered to serve me and waved me inside the store , and I entered . The older dark haired lady then asked the lady behind me as well to enter the bakery as well.
I walked directly towards the younger employee as she stood by the register and asked her if she had any cookies and she referred me to the other side of the glass case to view the cookies. I walked over to view the cookies as any normal customer would to determine which item one would likely prefer to eat , and at that very moment, the older dark haired lady started inappropriately yelling at me . She started yelling at me as if I were a delinquent child. I was stunned. She stated "social distancing!..social distancing..! ..and continued yelling. During this time even the younger employee was stunned and shocked with the older lady's behavior. I kept my composure and simply told the older lady that the younger employee directed me towards that side of the bakery case. She then yelled " LEAVE!" YOU HAVE TO LEAVE NOW!. I was stunned and looked at both the younger patient employee and looked at the older offensive lady and calmly walked out without stating a word to this very rude lady. My daughter was outside waiting for me and she was also stunned what just happend.
I can see how this virus has turned certain people into paranoids. Throughout this covid experience I have continued to enter many very well known bakeries in the region, but this the very worst experience I have ever encountered by any business(period). I truly hope there were no underlying biases with her behavior but it was evident that she was out of control and that her emotions had taken over her choice of words and her actions. There is truly no excuse for this behavior.

My favorite bakery in Oregon. Haystack bread is a must, but cookies and pastries are also delicious.

Rude staff running the register today! Seriously, woah. Staff not masked but our five, masked family members huddled quietly together looking to efficiently select something and a cake made the lady yell at 5 quiet, respectful adults. Going straight to rude and yelling for folks spending a bit of money, trying to select quickly and asking a few questions, seems particularly obnoxious.

Girl behind counter acted as if she was bored with me, and I was a complete idiot. Monotone, annoying voice talking down to me is not what I need in the morning. She proceeds to let someone else (nicer) help me and walks around back. They grab my Haystack Bread, and as I walk out the door I can overhear her sternly telling them NOT to sell fresh bread and pastries, and to sell the old stuff. AFTER SHE TOLD ME THEY ARE BAKED FRESH EVERY MORNING? HUH. This explains the many reviews about stale pastries. Do no ever go here. Everything is extremely overpriced except for small rolls for a dollar. Lame and unsanitary seating and facility. Outside benches look to have not been cleaned in 10 years. They are a darker shade of white due to all of the grime.
Update: I am adding even more that came to my mind after I wrote this original review. All breakfast items are super expensive, and they are the only place open for breakfast in the morning in town, so they can gouge you $6 for a slice of quiche or $6 for a small biscuit worth only $2 MAX. I am thoroughly appalled. And the owner promises customers with bad experiences store credit? Why, so you can afford half a pastry?! LOL. I am sorry if this is harsh, but someone had to say it. Fix these things, and I'd be happy to return with high expectations
