nice warm and cozy place, extremely friendly staff, and very relaxing ambience.
I waited 3 weeks to come here and it was well worth it, I will definitely miss this place when my holiday leave ends and I return to my duty station.

Absolutely a great coffee shop because of the location. The coffee was good but it was a quaint location in downtown Matthew’s. Indoor and Outdoor seating plus WIFI. Parking was limited, but the greenway has plenty of spots with the stair case leading directly up to the shop.

This place is what a coffee shop should be. Lot of seating in different spaces, Outdoor seating, unique menu, and friendly staff. Most importantly, everyone was wearing a mask and it was very clean.

I come to this coffee shop anytime I am in Matthews. It is my favorite in Charlotte!

Had a lovely time at this little cafe. Wonderful seating for reading or working on a laptop. The staff was exceptionally friendly and my order didn't take too long to come out. The coffee was also super delicious, and they have some pretty interesting pastry options.

I have been visiting Brakeman's for the better part of 4 years and it has been my favorite local coffee shop to meet with friends, do homework, and relax. It has even helped to influence the style of coffee shop I hope to one day open! I always recommend it to all of my friends and love their punch-card rewards system! Keep up the great work!

Great addition to Matthews growing hip and urban professional scene. Coffe is good and staff is friendly. Could use some better fresh made baked items and salads to make it an all day joint but still like it none the less. Love the local art on walls and outdoor seating and games. Not best for young children unless they are outside.

Great atmosphere and coffee/tea/other drinks at a decent price. Its only downside is that it tends to get so busy on Saturday mornings that the line stretches out the door and it takes forever to get to the front, but in order to attract so many customers they must be doing something right, so it's a good problem to have.

Amazing coffee. Amazing service. Amazing location. Amazing atmosphere.

Back patio has two propane heaters to help cut through cold days to enjoy a cuppa with a friend, while not having to be indoors. Thank you Brakeman's management and staff! Y'all rock! ☕🔥☺️

The Apple Chai-der is autumn in a cup! Amazing! The Rosemary Brown Sugar Latte (w/ oat milk) is amazing as well. Definitely a place to enjoy creative flavors... especially in the fall.

Love this old historical coffee shop! They do make delicious coffee, especially the seasonal options are good! Loved the front with big windows and the cutest romantic patio in the back ❤️

It’s a good spot to hang or do your work/study. It’s busy most of the times and may be hard to find a seat. When the weather’s nice, it’s good to sit outside (both front/back).

Everyone has different preferences with coffee. I think coffee here is around 3 out of 5. I usually get a 10 oz. hot latte and I feel that the ratio or how they make it taste a bit inconsistent. I visited about 10+ times with almost same drink and sometimes it’s good, sometimes it’s too milky and don’t get enough of the fresh coffee flavor.
