The picture above is my daughter-in-love singing 🗣🎙🎶, her husband/my son, playing keyboard 🎹 & 1 of my godson's on guitar 🎸. I came to support her.
The building is small but cozy for the crowd that attended. Nice atmosphere. Service was really slow and the food could have been cooked much better. Servers were friendly and I believe did their best in taking & serving orders as fast as they could.
NO parking, place in center downtown, late evening it's really hard to find a parking spot, by the time you find one, you've missed up to half of the show. Ppl. we're still coming in as we were leaving... they paid their money & missed the show. ☹️ Place to dark to take clear pics.

Food and the atmosphere was absolutely amazing!! My server was great! She made sure we were well taken care of after a rough start. Definitely will be back again.

Another gem, we found this looking for somewhere with a good brunch. Let me just say, they didn’t let us down!!! The bar could have more selection but for just coffee, mimosas you’ll be beyond satisfied. The food my goodness, I’ll definitely be back!
Just GOOO &.
Thank me later✌🏾

Attended a show here the other day for "Lesha" - we were encouraged to arrive at 6 and show would start @ 7PM - the doors were locked so not sure when they finally opened up for guests so i don’t recommend arriving early. Found this event through eventbrite it was $20 Seating / $10 Standing. They had a great show and loved the shrimp & grits, I’m not a big drinker but i tried one of their cocktails and it was fairly strong. Show was over exactly at 8pm due to another show at 9pm so make sure you finish your food and drinks by then. Overall was 8/10 experience. LESHA WAS AMAZING SUCH A BEAUTIFUL VOICE - would love to see her perform again.

New favorite spot in Durham! Great atmosphere, lovely staff, delicious food, very clean, and honestly the best espresso we have had in the state! We were recommended by some local people from our hotel and were so glad we had time to stop for breakfast and have such a good experience at Beyu! Tanny is a great server and we loved hearing a little bit about the business! The baristas were very friendly, it’s not only a great place to eat, but it seems like a great work environment for the employees. Wish we had a Beyu cafe in Charlottesville VA!

Friend and I decided to come here after our first choice was closed due to a water main break and I so wish that wouldn't had happened. My friend has been here before and had a good experience, but I cannot fully say the same about mine. We walked in and were told to wait until a table opened. A few more people came in after us and were seated first. It turns out that the hostess forgot about us, but was able to find another table for us. We got seated and was told that she would bring us our menus, but never did. Finally a waitress acknowledged us and got us menus and waters. She took our orders of shrimp and grits and a Mexican coffee for my friend and then we waited. And then we waited and waited some more. Suddenly we started to realize that about 30 minutes or so had passed since we ordered. And our waitress finally came back over and checked on us and said she would check on the food, but she never returned.
Then we really noticed the time passing when another group that was there before us hadn't gotten their food and they went to check on theirs. About 10 minutes later they got their food and another 15 we got ours. For the wait the shrimp and grits was not worth it. First it was super small and the seasonings were lack luster. I was expecting a lot more than we received. I did like the parmesan cheese on top, as this was different.
However, I've had better shrimp and grits and service. Our waitress did not have the best attitude and offered no apologies for the over hour wait for our food. I could tell she did not care. I know that there are a lot of shortages going on right now, so my friend and I stayed patient, but there was plenty of staff, so something in their process and needs to change. Especially in the customer service. I want to support local and black-owned businesses, but I won't be returning.

The food was superb and you get a good amount. Not too expensive. This place is small though so go early or make a reservation.

As pictured, beautiful plating but the chicken was unseasoned (lemon pepper was there, nothing else) which was disappointing for my taste buds. I tasted my friend’s French toast and kicked myself because I should have ordered that. It was delicious! In fact, I went back the next week and bought it - so delicious. I’m sure if I said something about the chicken, it would have been fixed because the service is always great when I go. I just didn’t have time that day.

Food is delicious and the atmosphere is nice. It gets crowded around 11 on the weekends so try going a bit earlier. The grits are so buttery and the presentation of the food matches the quality. I recommend this place for sure!

Everything was wonderful down to the staff. The food was awesome. I loved the added flowers as a nice touch. Ms. Yolanda was so sweet she made us feel so welcome. The owner also made sure we were taken care of as well they were so personable. If you’re in Durham stop by it’s definitely worth. My new favorite spot!
