The food here is pretty good but expensive. They also seem to be pretty inconsistent with portion size. I spent $13 on a salad(one of which I have had before) and it was noticeably a small portion. Almost less than half of the normal size. When I called back I was informed that the complaint wasn't really even note ever. Usually if I spend that much money on a meal I expect to get $13 worth of food but I received more around $7 worth of food. Disappointing as I come here often. Like I said, food is tasty but really it will be a roll of the die on the quality and amount you get that day.

Edit: Adding a star because the food is still tasty and the staff is beyond nice.

Thank you so much to Alandra for helping me feel right at home in this Green Sage Cafe. I always get the decaf Americano for about $3.50 and it is always perfect.

Very good healthy food selection! Service great. Any picky person can find something to eat here. Kudos to owners and management due to the insane amount of time it takes to prepare natural foods. Takes dedication to the point of being a mantra. Grateful they are here.

Pretty disappointing lunch with friends. Soup & salad combo, with carrot ginger soup and kale Caesar. Apparently there was an upcharge of 2.50 for the salad which I wasn't aware of, a service fee, and with 15% tip=$18 in total. Portion was comical-maybe 1 cup of soup with about 5 bites of dry chopped kale. They forgot my salad dressing, crackers, and messed up my friends order. I asked the food runner to fix my friends order and they brought her a salad 2x larger than mine when I even paid extra. Requested the crackers that came with my order and they brought me 3 tiny prepackaged crackers, about the size of a quarter. Needless to say, I left hungry and was out $18. Food itself was decent but nothing special. It was frustrating overall to have to keep asking for basic things and then leaving still hungry.

I frequently meet a friend at this location for coffee, so I have no food comments, however, the service is slow, the tables and floors are sticky.
And the management adds 10% to the charges and expects that we tip in addition.
I believe that employees should be paid a fair wage, but does the money have to come from the customers?
I hope that the owner is contributing some of those “fair” wages from his profits.

Food is great! But if you are not trying to order/eat in person... good luck. It's a 40/60 chance not in your favor that you'll be able to order online and 50% chance they'll pick up the phone to take your order. And it seems like they lose staff quite often. A healthy work environment makes for long lasting staff folks.

Outstanding food and good service today. ****Beware Green Sage adds a tip, automatically, to your food total.

Can I do zero stars? Filthy dining area and restrooms. Took our order and 20 min later walked to the table to inform me they were out of kale. Pushed back on refund then refused to refund the “service charge.” Too many good eateries in Asheville to waste your time here.

Lox was amazing, Tigris bowl blew our minds.

A local place on Merrimon that got enough good press to pique my curiosity. Last week I stopped for an early lunch and ordered a sandwich, tabouli and mocha java. You order at the counter and the food is brought to your table. Then you bus your own table when finished. Now tabouli is supposed to be made with bulgar wheat and tomatoes included in the recipe, neither of which was present. It looked like rice. The sandwich, served on ciabatta bread was small and could have used more veggies to liven it up. I did order extra dressing, which I recommend. The mocha was great! I realize restaurants are having supply issues, but basic dishes with missing ingredients (we grow copious amounts of tomatoes here) just aren't my cup of tea, especially with such a restricted menu. I know they are trying hard, but in my humble opinion they kind of missed the mark. It's a fun place to people watch and the staff is very nice, but I'll continue to make my sandwiches at home and get my tabouli at a Greek restaurant.
