So lucky to have a little general store serving the community needs in town and bringing passersby to the village. Excellent food, excellent service, and everything you could ask for and expect from a sweet little shop in a teeny town! A must-stop for day trippers exploring the Tivoli Bays and the rest of the businesses, too!

When I'm in town, I pop into the Tivoli General, usually a few times a day. It's a perfectly-curated shop with amazing food sourced from local farms and the best chicken salad I've ever had. I always find something delicious in there or get turned on to some fantastic new food item to take home. Try the miso cookies and the hot chocolate and you will want to do cartwheels. We love this shop.

Friendly neighborhood cafe, very high quality, local food sourced from farms nearby. Hands down the best coffee this side of the river (Australians know Coffee). Am I biased because I come everyday? You be the judge.

The new owners of the Tivoli General have transformed a small grocery into a community hub in a matter of months, though not without inspired effort: they gave up valuable retail space to create indoor seating, dedicated their mornings to open early for coffee and breakfast 6 days a week. They sought out local bakers to provide fresh bread and pastries consistently. They created a small menu of incredible sandwiches, salads and soups made from local farm goods rather than mass produced stuff.
It is disheartening to see the comments implying that the owners are not for the people; what they have built is made entirely from the artistry and effort of local artisans, whom they pay ethically for their craft and service. It's not a 7-11, and we are so grateful for that.
I understand the shock of feeling the true cost of goods and services, but I ask those frustrated by the price point to consider the greater social impact of demanding the prices that come from factory farms and poverty wage labor before accusing these business owners of any lack of character. I know few other shops run with such integrity, skillfulness, and heart.

Tivoli General is the most amazing community coffee shop. The owners...and chef....are always friendly, which always makes me feel good. I'm a regular so it's nice to be recognized and acknowledged! The food is delicious and well priced. The best best grilled cheese, tuna salad wonderful and the avacado toast has alot of competition these days, but still better than any I have tasted, which is alot. Generous portion, great bread and always a nice presentation! I appreciate a coffee shop with chai tea that is without sugar and not made from a mix, hard to find! Matcha as well. The groceries are interesting and the produce is fresh and local. I hate Tuesdays when they are closed, but I know they need a rest and that's selfish of me.....

Randomly stumbled into this shop because we wanted some coffee but had an amazing experience. We ordered some chias and some appetizers both were great and the service was above and beyond. Coming back again soon.

Charming as heck, perfectly sized and situated in wonderful Tivoli, this is one of our fave places for those mornings when we want a lovely bite. And they sell loaves from Kingston Bread which is an extra plus!

This place is soooo obnoxious! How are you gonna charge 16 bucks for a chicken salad sandwich that’s mediocre at best. Coffee is trash, egg and cheese bland and overpriced, and the grocery selection is an odd limited variety of pretentious 14 dollar tinned fish, and overdone momofuku rich gentrifier-core, brooklynite bull. I hate myself whenever I come in here, but alas, they are the only “grocery” store in town. They have a monopoly and they know it. Also-change ur name, there’s nothing “general” about this place… such a rancid vibe 0/10😘😘

Wonderful spot for breakfast, lunch, local goodies, anddd an incredible selection of Japanese snacks, sodas and more. Some of the friendliest staff in the Hudson Valley to boot—Not to be missed.
