Sugar, Salt & Malt Restaurant
Review of Sugar, Salt & Malt Restaurant
Sugar, Salt & Malt Restaurant:
Sugar, Salt & Malt Restaurant is a cozy and welcoming spot located in Baker, Nevada. The restaurant offers a variety of dishes, including pizza, pasta, quiche, and more. The menu is not extensive, but it has something for everyone. The staff is friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere is relaxed and casual.
The restaurant is a great option for those visiting Great Basin National Park, as it is one of the few dining options in the area. The restaurant has a decent beer selection and a full-service bar. The homemade cheesy bread is a must-try, and the Ragu over pasta is a popular dish among customers. The vegan menu items are also appreciated by many customers.
The breakfast options are limited, but the restaurant is a cute spot for breakfast in a town with basically no other options. However, some customers have expressed disappointment with the breakfast burrito. The dinner menu is more extensive and offers fine dining options in a place where one would not expect it. The 6oz Ribeye dinner is a customer favorite.
The prices are a bit high, but customers appreciate that the restaurant is one of the few options in the area. The restaurant has a small menu, but there is a little something for everyone. The decor is lovely, and the staff is accommodating. The restaurant is open for dinner from 4:30 pm to 8:00 pm on certain nights.
If you are looking for a place to grab a bite to eat before the ascent up Great Basin National Park or just driving through, Sugar, Salt & Malt Restaurant is a perfect place to stop by.

Best gnocchi I’ve ever had. Steak a was perfectly cooked. Ravioli was fresh. The pie was delicious. All around good vibes.

What a diamond in the rough! Extremely fine dining and extremely good food in the last place I would expect it. Highly recommended!

Nice place, many interesting menu items. It's run by two young women, and they have created a restful place to have a nice meal. Indoor and outdoor seating (the outdoor seating is under a roof - shade is very important there).
We had a wonderful dinner and dessert there at a very reasonable price.

A definite must try! My family and I stopped here in Baker after a day of hiking Wheeler Peak. The staff was delightful, quick and super helpful. Our server was funny and went along with many of the dad jokes that were thrown at her with ease. She multi-tasked well and kept up inspite of being very busy.
We had 4 kids ages 8 through 10. They split 2 dishes of spaghetti and meatballs. The adults enjoyed the Greek salad and grilled chicken.
The drink menu was full of inventive and tasty sounding treats. Only my husband partook but he enjoyed it immensely.
We all had the homemade ice cream sandwiches as dessert. Yummy!!

My favorite restaurant in Baker! The quiche is amazing! It’s hard to go wrong with anything on the menu. Lots of seating indoors, and a lovely atmosphere. Highly recommend!

Arrived 15 min before closing after a long day's drive. Thought I'd have a beer and maybe some chow before setting up camp in great basin. Long story short, two ladies that worked there didnt bother to greet me, and had little if any interest in serving me (I walked by one on the way in), the young man bussing tables was helpfull, but the other two couldn't have cared less. Walked out. Saved $30.

The coffee was very good but the breakfast burrito was not! Under cooked potatoes, no spices and premade them microwaved. Go for the coffee, beware the food.

I am a resident of Baker and am elated that Sugar, Salt & Malt has opened their doors. This restaurant is an oasis in the Great Basin Desert. From coffee to desert, everything is fresh and fabulous. The menu is handcrafted and always delicious. My favorite table is on the north patio where the ambiance is relaxing and the view is inspiring. Kudos to chefs, Tabitha & Cheri, for following their passions and realizing their dreams.

We spent the day at Great Basin NP, and were facing an hour drive to Ely last night. Our search for a restaurant around Baker at 7:30 pm was not looking good - until we stumbled on Sugar, Salt & Malt! What a welcome respite in the wilderness! The lamb burger and penne pasta with steak was amazing, and everything was cooked to perfection. A nice choice of beer, wine and craft cocktails rounded off the meal. This restaurant will definitely have our business anytime we are in the area.

Delicious panini and ice cream sandwich! Although, I would have preferred being served my sandwich on a paper plate since I was eating there instead of a plastic container that I had to throw away.
