Penelope's Lil' Cafe

The food here was super good. We had family from out of town meet us here for breakfast on Labor day. It was very busy so there was quite a wait but that should be expected on a Holiday at a cafe. The service was quick and good. I will definitely be coming back. Try the funnel cake french toast!

I only feel compelled to write reviews if someplace is remarkably good or unexpectedly not so good. I am not from Lincoln but when I visit I always try somewhere new to eat and I pick based on reviews. Penelope's had very good reviews and I am a breakfast fan so it was a must that I give it a try. The place was small and packed which is often a sign of greatness. They have a board up front that lets guests know they will only have a max of 1 hour for their meal which I suppose is reasonable given how busy they are, but I don't like to feel rushed. The waitress never refilled my coffee or water one time even though both were gone before I received my meal. She was scarce and not very friendly. I had a vegetable omelet with green salsa, toast, and hash browns. It was a large meal and looked good but had no flavor at all. I never add salt to food but had to here. So, despite the hype, I don’t think this is a place I would return to.

This is a wonderful neighborhood spot, a standalone building with lots of natural light and an open dining room.
We were able to get breakfast and lunch items and everyone enjoyed their choices. My nephew thought the fries were cooked perfectly; and he's an afficionado.
Service was timely, accurate and friendly.

Extremely friendly atmosphere. The Waitresses are very attentive and polite. Wait time for food is no more than any other place. It is small but has a nice ambiance.

Ordered a med rare steak it came out more than extra well done then the re order came out blue/raw.

This is a very average breakfast place. I judge breakfast food by whether I could make the same meal at home and have it taste better, and I definitely could. The eggs were not over medium as ordered. We didn't get a refill the whole time we were there. The food was average. Not the worst place I've ever been for breakfast.

The food was okay, a bit pricey, and the service decent. The resteraunt seemed rather cramped, and the busy day we went didn't help with that.

Awesome food and service! Had the pancakes and couldn't finish because they are as big as your plate!

the French toast meal was outstanding! it was Sunday after church & the place was packed & very noisy, as the restaurant is quite small. I hope our server was just having a rough day & not perturbed to be waiting on our table.
