I am allergic to seafood now and they have an alternative to the shrimp and grits.
It is pork and grits which is out of this world!!
It is a 14 hour pork loin roast that is shredded and is a combination I would have never thought of!
And the grits are absolutely perfect- smooth and creamy!
Excellent place to eat and enjoy an eclectic atmosphere with enjoyable music for everyone!

Two of us dined on 1/23/22. The food was nothing short of AMAZING! I got the gumbo and the other person got the Shrimp and Sausage Creole, both were delicious! We polished off our meal by sharing the caramel bread pudding. That bread pudding… I had to hug the pastry chef, it was an out of body experience! Needless to say, we will be dining there again!

Only been once but it was simply delicious. Inside & outside seeting. Food was fast and hot. Home cooked taste. Authentic is the word that comes to mind. Owner checked on us to make sure we were enjoying. Definitely recommend and I'm going again any time I'm in the area.

The food has gone all do the way down the hill with the new ownership. We were excited to eat here having loved it in the past, and were disappointed. The food just isn’t the same. The owner was aggressive and off putting in the way he greeted us. We didn’t even make it in the door from the parking lot before he was hollering at us about the “new rules” and processes of the restaurant. We had just celebrated a baptism and wanted to have a king cake on the patio and were told we could not due to that being a health code violation. In hindsight we are laughing about how bad every part of our visit was. Just spare yourself the disappointment and eat somewhere else. Literally anywhere else.

I first ate here about 10 yrs ago and it was okay but just happened to be back in the area this weekend and we decided to give it a try and WOW was that the right choice! I had the Angelhair Yum/Shrimp/Lump crab/Mushroom served with garlic bread and my son had the cheeseburger with sauteed onions that was served poboy style and both were out of this world. The only thing that rivaled the food was the service and atmosphere. My son even asked if this was a NEW restaurant because if the way they appeared to be going out of their way to make sure we were taken care of.
Truly a great experience and will definitely be back again a lot sooner!

Visiting from Missouri....This place was recommended to us by family & our b & b owners.
The atmosphere was fun.... George was outside for entertaining. He was awesome! Friendly, even let my son hold his guitar for a picture with him...
The guy cooking was super friendly & wonderful!
My son enjoyed his shrimp!
Took off 2 stars bcuz the food was just so so.... and I think I got charged $2 or $3 for water....
Usually water is free when u order it.
I had the Gumbo and was expecting perfection.... it was just "ok"
Portions weren't very big for the price....
I'd probly go back & try something different if I ever make it back.

If you want great homemade food and an amazing atmosphere, this is the place for you. The atmosphere and interior is very unique and you'll love just looking around at every nook and cranny. The staff is always so friendly and accommodating! You will be back, I promise.

First of all, if I could have given this restaurant a zero star I certainly would have. Went in after a Mardi Gras parade to meet some friends because everyone says how wonderful it was. It was like 2 they didn’t close until 3. Was met at the door by all I can say is the most hateful, unhappy woman I have ever met in my life. She screamed at me…we are closed. I said ok my friends are in there… I’ll go sit and talk with them until they are done. She screamed at me again and wouldn’t let me in. Then the chef started ranting at me. All I can say is I will never enter their restaurant again and would never recommend this restaurant to anyone. What happened to common courtesy? I find it ironic that it’s called the “Happiness Cafe”. I certainly didn’t find any happiness there.

I have followed chef Darwell around for 10 years. I have been to all three locations that were open in central MS. I have also ordered gallons of ettouffe during corona that Darwell delivered.
One will not find a chef that cares more about the food quality, the best ingredients, and the best presentation.
Chef Darwell is the real deal.
