Even when the line is long, the staff are so friendly and quick! Coffee and baked goods lived up to the hype.

By far the best breakfast sandwich I've had while in the area, and very pleased with the coffee too! Super friendly staff, who can make great recommendations!

Great coffee and treats but a bit of a wait still worth it. We now go every time we are in Grand Marais, bit of a tradition.
Just FYI not so busy in the winter! Still worth the wait if there is.

We grabbed coffee and sandwiches here for breakfast one day! The coffee was good, nothing super special.
The Raspberry White Chocolate Scone was SUPER good warmed up.
We also had the Cappuccino Crunch Muffin which was ok.
One of us had a Ham Breakfast Sandwich. The sandwich itself was basically what you’d expect. But the croissant it was on was good.
The others in our group had the Chicken Salad Sandwich which was also ok, but would’ve been a LOT better heated up so the cheese melted a little (which I know they would’ve done if we would’ve asked 🙂). They’re regular potato chips that come with it; so nothing special.
The atmosphere in here was great and the workers were super friendly & very efficient! They filled our water bottles for us too, which was nice because a lot of the gas stations don’t even have water you can refill bottles with anymore. We’d return here next time we’re in GM! 🙂

A modern landmark on Scenic Hwy 61 in Grand Marais, on the north shore of Minnesota's Lake Superior. It's been many years since my last visit, but the Java Moose is still consistent in its quality food & espresso drinks. The owner's daughter was very accommodating in my gluten allergy, substituting bread in the yummy CHICKEN SALAD sandwich with salad fixings instead. The locally made Maple Syrup, almond milk, Latté hit the spot & warmed me up on this drizzly spring day. THANKS, Java Moose. I'll be back on my next trip to Thunder Bay!

Good veggetarian sandwich. Good coffee. Nice view. Friendly staff.

This should be the first place you stop when coming into Grand Marais. It's hard to miss, just as you reach the town it's the first place to welcome you when you turn right onto Wisconsin st.
A very welcoming place, the drinks are quickly made and very tasty. In our experience, if you like to add sugar or honey to your latte, you have to ask for it. There is no condiment table.
There is a very nice patio though, just outside, that looks out onto the harbor and Lake Superior. We've never failed to stop here on any of our visits, and we usually stay about 10 miles away.

Love Java Moose, excellent mochas & scones. I love supporting a hometown family small business.

The inside environment and style of this place is wonderful and welcoming with very friendly staff. The breakfast sandwich was just ok and sadly the coffee had no flavor. I ordered a BWCA (butterscotch, white chocolate, amaretto) Latte while a friend ordered a vanilla latte. Neither of our lattes had any syrups or flavors of any kind in them...just coffee and milk. We were pretty disappointed. I would recommend making sure your coffee has flavors you ordered before leaving.
