Great sandwiches and coffee, plus you can tell the owner is involved and cares. Thank you to all of the great employees and services.

Okay, first things first about Cross Street, it's called the Ugly Mug and I hate the new name. Otherwise its still the best coffee shop to enjoy the atmosphere and the people in Ypsi. It's very trendy, but doesn't have a hipster vibe. The only downside to the mug is the coffee itself, Hyperion is just a few blocks away in depot town and the coffee is far better for the price. However the mug is still an awesome place to relax and do some school work or code like I do. If the mug gets its coffee back to what it would be it would be an amazing coffee shop again

Fast, polite, and tasty. I ordered a chai tea latte. Loved the atmosphere. Great place to grab a coffee and get some writing done. This place has so much charm! Awesome artwork also.

So I live in the neighborhood and I've been spending tons of money at Cross Street Coffee for years now (and I always tip the staff). I usually like to grab a $3 coffee (plus tip) and come back home to study. Usually I come back within an hour and grab a refill for $1.50 (and another tip).
Today, I get told (after three years of being a loyal patron) that refills are against their policy unless I sit in the cafe the entire time. I'm like "OK just charge me for another coffee and use the same cup." The barista says "No it's fine. You just know for next time." OK, so I've never heard of this policy in three years and I know this barista has seen me in there. I've spent hundreds at this establishment and she's going to talk to me like I'm a child? NOPE! Not putting up with that B.S. from a business where I've been spending my hard-earned dough.
There's tons of independently owned coffee shops in Ypsilanti. My advice...go ANYWHERE but Cross Street Coffee. Take it from me...I'm a local.

(My statements are grounded in evidence as well as eye witness accounts, this is not made up slander but the truth) They serve great coffee along with a cup of racist alcoholic abusive managers and owners. I got wrongfully terminated for no reason, no write up, no warning and was blamed by racist alcoholics for the reason their business is failing as if they're not abusive owners who have already previously had an ENTIRE staff quit at once in protest of their behavior. They claimed I had "multiple write ups" from the previous manager which I was never told about, never signed, and were not legally and professionally documented. They did not follow the very procedures they detail in the employee manual that they wrote in the process of my "write ups." When I asked to see the paper work and my "multiple write ups" the owner Melody said she "left them at home". They took my shifts away, decreased my hours and were informally and unethically punishing me without my notice while the entire staff was aware but me. I'm the only employee on staff that was punished and who had to adhere to the "rules" set in place while my coworkers audacious behavior and job performances were promoted and ignored. They used me, the first black female employee (who they said "was not a good fit" what about me, a black woman, isn't a "good fit"?) as a scape goat for their utter unprofessionalism and unethical behavior towards their employees. This establishment was failing without the influence of one black girl. Like I said, the coffee is great, but the manner in which this establishment is run is disgusting. I was one of the most senior employees and In the year that I was there I saw a whole new staff come in and out about three times.

Honestly, I had never had that bad of an experience, save for a few from a sometimes aloof employee. Now knowing the attitude of the ownership, I can understand why. The employees were the only trace of a soul in that building. They assisted with my art displays and were always gracious with that process. The owner has since been caught up in a string of unfortunate business regarding policing others personal politics and ripping off other employees for their work (who have good proof). I can no longer endorse this business and will not set foot in that building until it is under new ownership. This is not unique to only myself. Irreparable missteps have been made.

Great breakfast sandwiches and even better coffee. They take their time making quality sandwiches and lattes so I wouldn’t come here if you’re in a hurry. I love the stamps on the to-go cups and the rotating artwork.
