I was reading a book outside after buying coffee next door and accidentally sat at one of their tables. An older gentleman came outside (and from what I've read in other reviews he's the owner) and started harassing me.
He told me I couldn't sit there, so I very politely apologized, said I didn't realize it, and started packing up my books.
He kept harassing me further asking me if I knew how to read. After apologizing a second time I finally shouted that yes, I did know how to read, because I was reading a book when he rudely started shouting at me even after I apologized.
I sat in the wrong spot, I completely get that, but I apologized and started leaving as soon as he pointed it out. He didn't need to be so rude or hostile.
I've never had coffee there, but I don't plan to. From what I've read most people have had bad experiences with service and staff.

Caution: do NOT go here. I've never encountered someone so vile in the way they respond to customers and people in general. Madcap is a much better option!
service dogs gone wild
So I went in to buy a homeless man a cup of coffee and the lady working the counter refused me service due to my service dog who was properly marked even though it's not required I would not recommend getting coffee here she was rude and nasty even went as far as to spit on the ground at my dog's feet we are in a pandemic and this place is horrible I've never been treated that way I am a respected member of the community and was appalled at her outrageous show of ignorance and childish behavior ... Edit as you can see she responded with nonsense 🤣 lady that is fine because I went to madcap coffee 😂😂😂 and he most certainly is a service dog I can provide you with Ada law if you like but I've already filled out a form to file a lawsuit not only for defamation of character but for refusing a trained service dog that assists me with a disability into the establishment because yes by law you must allow him into the establishment with or without his vest because that is not required by law

On more than one occasion I have seen an employee cone outside and berate a customer from Madcap next door for sitting on their chairs.
It is one thing to point out your chairs and ask them to move, especially if you have customers looking to sit down. It is completely unneccesary to yell at a completely unaware person for sitting in your chairs, esspecially when they are completely empty.
Just because of these interactions I choose not to give them business.

Sat in the wrong chair and the guy came out swearing at me an would not stop. I was with my lady and this was uncalled for and he would not quit. I am on a mission to post reviews about this guy as well as file attorney general complaints, BBB complaints and more. I won't stop until everyone knows that this guy deserves to be working in a junkyard and not the good public arena of Grand Rapids. Good luck with your decisions pal.

I stop by Sunday 9/2/18 in between a wedding at the hotel across the street. I ordered a white chocolate caramel frappe and mu boyfriend got a chai frappe. They were both delicious better than Starbucks

Awful customer service! I walked in with my parents and asked how late they were opened, when the man at the desk responded by saying: "If you cared that much about my hours, you would have checked." We asked because we didn't want to be rude and stay if they were closing soon, but he just keep repeating himself. Needless to say, we left immediately. DON'T GO THERE!!!

Great place! Every time I'm in GR I go to this place, great coffee and great prices! Skip Madcap and walk the extra 20' feet for an enjoyable experience that your tastebuds will love!

We stopped into the local Mocha, we went to sit down and wait for a friend before ordering. A gentleman asked if he could help us? I told him we were just waiting for a friend, he asked if we were going to order. I said yes we were just waiting for our friend before we order, and he informed us that we were rude and didn’t order anything and were told to leave.
