The best coffee in town, period! The prices are very reasonable. I've had the Beer City USA and Caramel Fusion. The sizes are also quite good - 12oz, 16oz and with the 20oz, you get up to 4 shots of espresso!

Local Mocha shares a wall with the "trendy" Madcap coffee. I went the Pepsi Challenge route and I ordered a Mocha Latte from both. Local Mocha's coffee is excellent. Comparatively Madcap's "Mocha Latte" tasted like a lemon tea. I wasn't sure they served me the right drink, I had it swapped for a new one but it had the same sour, hot water taste. If you want COFFEE go to Local Mocha! Their beans are slow roasted, organic, and provided by the local roaster Grand Rapids Coffee Roasters.

This is the most ridiculous interaction Iā€™ve ever had with an establishment. How do business owners such as yourself not realize how completely unprofessional it is to insult the products of another business? Perhaps it is out of jealousy due to the obvious difference in success between the two? And I would think itā€™s common sense that passive aggressively (or just aggressively) ridiculing polite potential customers is unprofessional as well, but common sense is not so common nowadays, huh?

Not surprising that you remember our interaction from two days ago. I suspect that this is because we were the only customers you had since then? Would not surprise me. And was it truly such an inconvenience for us to throw away our trash in your trash can? Yes, if I had no intention of purchasing anything, I would not have done so, but I fully had the intention of buying something after I threw away my trash. What do you want, for us to dig our trash out of your trash can?

ā€œTreat others how you want to be treatedā€ is perhaps the most hypocritical thing you could have said in this situation. When you were younger, did you want older business owners to aggressively harass you for not buying anything from their business?

I hope you realize how absurd you sound. Anyone reading this, I hope this exchange made you realize how absolutely ridiculous this store is, avoid at all costs.

Going Places

Asked if my son can use the restroom, expecting to have to pay for something. The clerk said paying customers only. I agreed I would pay for something and asked again where the restrooms were as my so. Really had to go. The clerk again repeated himself, when I again stated that I would buy something. He then shortly cut me off saying I hadn't ordered yet. I then ordered a slice of banana bread and he said that wasn't good enough. So I then asked if there was a public restroom and he said there are no public restrooms downtown. I said thanks and started heading back to my hotel so my son could use the restroom hoping he didn't have an accident when I found open public restrooms two blocks away. The clerk was a real jerk especially when it involves a six year old kid. There was a public restroom nearby and instead of informing me of the location he decided to try and earn another five bucks.

Had trouble ordering from Madcap due to them going online only with Covid restrictions. Found this place oddly located right next door. I was pleasantly surprised by the coffee and the woman working the counter was very nice.

I was visiting Grand Rapids and grabbed coffee at Madcap. Made the mistake of sitting outside at Local Mocha while I took a quick phone call. A super hostile guy came out and yelled at me to leave because I wasnā€™t a patron. Called me a jackass. Not very nice. Yikes!

If you want to take a friend downtown and get some real coffee.... You know you aint goin' to Starluck.
This coffee shop has the natural organic coffees and homemade everything. It's gonna win the day. Pay the extra buck and enjoy.

If you are Gen X this is the closest thing to the coffee shops of the 90s, Minus the drugs and bums. Coffee was great and I didn't see one man-bun. Service was good, probably to nice of a place to smoke inside.

This is a regular stop for me on weekends. It is owned and staffed by a family, so you are always dealing with someone who cares about what they do. Coffees are locally roasted and superb (they also sell bags of the beans if you are interested). This is one of those places that make GR such a pleasant city.
