From the business
"Our family has been making maple syrup in Charlevoix since 1898, and all Harwood Gold products are sweetened only with pure maple syrup. We opened our first storefront in 2016, and it is half cafe, half store. The cafe features a farm-fresh, seasonal menu, as well as espresso drinks, fresh baked goods and smoothies, plus our hand meat pies both hot and frozen. Our menu includes vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options. The store side features all of the Harwood Gold maple syrup and made-with-maple products, with a tasting bar so you can try before you buy. All of our maple products are also available to purchase on our website."

We came in for a drink and a snack this afternoon. We tried the Braised brisket and portobello meat pie and were delightfully pleased. It was flavorful, filling, and served warm.
My husband had the cinnamon toast crunch iced latte, it was even served with cinnamon toast crunch cereal too! I had the golden milk iced latte and it was really good too! The store had a great gift shop with unique items. They also had a grab and go fridge with salads and meat and cheeses. We will definitely come back!

Super good coffee! Unique flavors and not overly sweet. Hand pies are absolutely delicious. The gift shop portion has very cute and unique offerings.

Coffee was slightly above average. Espresso drinks were each very well done.

Cafe. Delicious coffee. Yummy breakfast choices. There are numerous food items to purchase for your kitchen pantry or as gifts. Tables and chairs to enjoy your coffee or breakfast or lunch. They have a number of items frozen that can be purchased. Support local cafes and businesses. We were visiting on vacation and we were happy we stopped here for breakfast. Thank you for the good service, atmosphere plus the great coffee!!

Went here two different days and was pleased both times. First day I got their recommended iced brown sugar latte with oat milk and I LOVED it! I also had a croissant and it was perfect. Next day I got their iced Almond Joy latte, and it was also super good. A little too chocolatey for my taste but it was still satisfying. Def recommend!

The savory pies and maple treats are amazing. Harwood Gold Cafe has become a frequent stop for breakfast or lunch for me when I visit Charlevoix. The leak, bacon breakfast pie I had this morning had a flavorful rich gravy and a wonderfully egg that had poached in the gravy as the pie baked. The staff was very friendly and were kind enough to let me use my travel mug for coffee, even washing it out for me.

A nice selection of pastries, meat pies, and cafe drinks. We have come here for years and typically get the bagels. My only recommendation is when you order a black coffee, it would be so easy for the barista to grab a cup, fill it up, and hand to you before you even swipe your credit card. Unfortunately, a black coffee gets in the queue behind the lattes, cappuccinos, and smoothies. They are able to hand you the pastries immediately, so conceptually, this is something the team is already halfway behind. It is not someplace you go to “grab and go” if you’re in a rush. There have been times we skip a visit because we know even though there is a short line, we can’t get in and out in less than 10 minutes.

Took a nice outing to charlevoix this weekend, shopped around, and found this coffee shop to get something hot to drink and warm up inside.....when my family and I went to order the, cashier lady was very unfriendly and had a nasty look on her face. She’s looked annoyed when we asked questions about the menu options....we brushed it off, and waited for our drinks....my sister ordered a hot chocolate and it came out lukewarm and had barely any flavor.....I ordered the golden milk, and it tasted bitter, and had crud in the bottom that did not get fully mixed in, also with a gritty texture. Overall very unsatisfied with the experience here at hardwoodgold cafe. Will not be coming back.

This is a perfect place to stop for coffee, souvenirs, and a cozy atmosphere. Not a lot of options for snacks but enough to sustain an afternoon of shop-hopping! The staff are wonderful and the environment welcoming. Good wifi and even a place to charge your phone in a pinch. Thank you Harwood Gold!
