From the business
"Our family has been making maple syrup in Charlevoix since 1898, and all Harwood Gold products are sweetened only with pure maple syrup. We opened our first storefront in 2016, and it is half cafe, half store. The cafe features a farm-fresh, seasonal menu, as well as espresso drinks, fresh baked goods and smoothies, plus our hand meat pies both hot and frozen. Our menu includes vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options. The store side features all of the Harwood Gold maple syrup and made-with-maple products, with a tasting bar so you can try before you buy. All of our maple products are also available to purchase on our website."

Hardwood gold cafe has dozens of Maple syrup samples out for tasting. That coffee and tea are great treats. Easily accessible local spot with all the charm you would expect from the area.

The pumpkin chai was good. The maple sage latte was awful though. The drinks were lukewarm at best. Friendly service

Gorgeous "Pinterest-esque" rustic interior unfortunately does not make up for the not unfriendly but not exactly friendly service. The first time I went in I waited patiently in NO line as I watched four young employees behind the counter talk amongst themselves and ignore my existence on the other side of the register. I ordered promptly, as I had to get back to work. The employee who took my order acted like I was taking up great amounts her valuable time, then gave me a nasty look when I did not bother to tip.
Long story short, I only decided to go back because the local Lottie's bagels that they can't possibly mess up -- aside from the fact they toast them and half hazardly throw them into paper bags and don't bother to give you a knife or tell you where one is for your cream cheese.
Three stars only because of Lottie's famous bagels. Otherwise, one star is sufficient.

Although the woman working was very pleasant she was not competent at her job. Took us 10 minutes to pay with our credit card, and then it was another 15 minutes before our coffees arrived. The prices were what you would expect in a Cafe that takes their coffee seriously, unfortunately the drinks did not live up to the prices. Didn't even finish my latte.

The PIES!! and by pies, I mean meat and veggie pies. So so good, not to mention their specialty, syrup! Such a great menu, spanning from breakfast to early dinner. Love their matcha latte, too!

Had they same experience as Ross B in the reviews below. Rude barista, Chai Tea Latte was not good. Waiting for coffee(s) only to walk up and see they just set them at the counter without calling out the order. Felt like they were annoyed I was a paying customer ... LOL.

Came here once to get a matcha latte and it was awful. It was an inch of powder on the bottom of the cup and Luke warm water sitting on top. I mixed it together and tried drinking it but it tasted like I was trying to swallow dirt. No flavor. My husband got a regular black coffee and he said it wasn’t hot and tasted bland.

Good coffee and a good vibe. Wifi also. I came by bicycle but parking for cars may be a little tight. A lot of the customers walked from their condos, vacation rentals, and boats. The prices were just a little high as you might expect in a popular vacation area.
