From the business
"Our family has been making maple syrup in Charlevoix since 1898, and all Harwood Gold products are sweetened only with pure maple syrup. We opened our first storefront in 2016, and it is half cafe, half store. The cafe features a farm-fresh, seasonal menu, as well as espresso drinks, fresh baked goods and smoothies, plus our hand meat pies both hot and frozen. Our menu includes vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options. The store side features all of the Harwood Gold maple syrup and made-with-maple products, with a tasting bar so you can try before you buy. All of our maple products are also available to purchase on our website."

Absolutely love the Aussie meat pies. Crust is done perfectly and inside is meaty and moist. Definitely fills you up. They have a great selection of specialty maple syrups and sauces. Worth checking out.

I have tried giving this place so many chances because it seems like a cool healthy organic coffee shop but there has been too many mishaps. The very last one is the fact that I ordered a bagel and not only did I have to toast it myself but I also had to use a bagel slicer which is very dangerous but the most important part about this is the fact that the girl gave me the display bagel so I did not understand why my bagel was hard as a rock and she asked me if I wanted to refund so then the other girl laughed and said oh no you weren't supposed to give her that one it was the display You have to get a bagel from the back. Whoever is the owner or managing this place needs to find a new line of work because clearly they cannot hire the right employees. Not to mention the facts that my coffee is absolutely disgusting! We'll never be returning here again!

Nice shop. I got a regular black coffee and was surprised at the bean they use - not bright at all, very dark rich flavors unlike many shops which like the tangy/fruity notes of coffee. I think it fits the northern Michigan vibe perfectly! Recommend.

We received a gift of Harwood Gold products from friends in Michigan for Christmas. One of the items was not sealed properly and it leaked all over the contents of the package. Also we were unsure if it was safe to consume the unsealed product. We called 3 times and left messages twice. After no response, we sent a letter to the Parsons Road location with photos of the product. After a month with no response we sent a letter with photos to the Bridge Street location. Another month or so has passed and no response again.
We would rate a NO STAR if that was an option. We would not recommend Harwood Gold and we will definitely not be a customer the next time we're in Charlevoix.

Following this review I did hear from the owner who apologized and asked for the order information. The owner indicated that she would "start the replacement process" That information was supplied on March
10 with a followup email to her on April 4. It's now May 15 and no response.
I really don't care about the damaged product, but i do resent the attitude and being simply "blown off" by this business owner.
Do not patronize this business. Zero stars!

Nice little place, especially if you like maple. They have a limited selection of food but it was good and the chai tea was good. The chocolate chip cookie was excellent.

We stopped here own our way to Traverse City and was pleasantly surprised by all this shop had to offer. The barrista was very nice and told us all about the history of the business. The breakfast are amazing!

Tasty lattes, I tried a latte from their Summer list and it was great! Lots of fun goods to look at while waiting for the drink to be done.

Stopped in for a Cappuccino extra dry. Perfect. Espresso had excellent flavor. Smooth with hints of chocolate. Best coffee I have had in quite sometime. The meat pies seem to be quite popular.

Half shop, half eatery. Menu is limited to coffee, a few other beverages, and meat pies although there are sandwiches and other beverages nearby in displays. Nice ambience. Syrups are tasty. I wasn't as impressed with the meat pie (I got the breakfast pie) as I was hoping to be. The latte was also okay.

We have been visiting this place regularly since it opened. Each time we visit our cottage we stop by to pick up Aussie Pies and carry them home. They’re nice people and the food is great. We recommend it to everyone who visits Charlevoix._Mark from Ohio
