love that they are open early enough for me to swing in on my way to work. I really enjoy the bagel sandwiches and cayenne mocha.

Edit: the management of this establishment had actually put in a grill cover with ventilation and the overall atmosphere is so much better now. I can have a conversation without fearing a headache from grilled onions now… thanks everyone!

5 stars is attainable if the following area is looked into!

My wife and I frequent Cafe Rica and we agree, it's one of the best! I do have one criticism, and it does not have to do with the food or drink that is served.

Please add some sort of ventilation system to the kitchen area! I love walking in and smelling the amazing food that is being prepared, but something that often detracts from extended stays is the eye-burning sensation and mild headaches we get when there is a lot of food being prepared. I noticed that the grill area does not have any outside ventilation (if there is, it is not sufficient), which attributes to this and also causes the entire room to get quite hazy.

If that could be accomplished, the end experience would be that much better - and cleaner. 🙂

The inside of the Cafe is absolutely charming along with the staff. Food was delicious, staff was extremely friendly and helpful, the decor is adorable. Would definitely eat here again.

The honey cinnamon latte, breve, half sweet, extra shot of espresso… soo good. Blueberry muffin on point! I asked for toast and got half a loaf of the freshest bread! AND IT WAS HOT! when was the last time you got hot toast anywhere other than right out of your own toaster? 🤔 😋

A couple friends and I got brunch here. None of us had ever been and I want more. Small little Cafe set in the city of Battle Creek and just oh so adorable! The Jalapeño Popper Grilled Cheese was to die for and the Mimosa tray was absolutley worth it with the variety of fruit and juices, you could mix it up just how you want it. I'm going back for the Waffle Sandwich next!

Fantastic place for tea, food and drinks. I’m normally a huge fan of the mimosa trays, but the French 75 may be my new to-go drink with friends.
And their Lemonade gets 2 thumbs up from the under 21 crowd.

I love everything about this place. The coffee really is too-notch, carefully and loving crafted, and a joy to drink. Food is fresh and seasonal and perfection. Everything I’ve ever had here has been great. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming and safe. What a gem in BC.

Placed a group lunch order for the company I was working with in Battle Creek; Here was the grilled cheese I had personally ordered, made in an obvious rush and burnt; my other colleagues orders where sad to sad the least; The most appetizing of all was the cut up fruit;
Everything (of a 14 person order) came wrapped in only thin paper that leaked and became greesy ; Instead of being stacked in proper boxes it was all placed on top of each other and thrown in a paper bag; We ordered 4 drinks aswell; While ordered to-go they came in unsealed largely opened cups with lids that spilled the drinks before I even had them loaded into the car; please Don’t take group orders in the future if your kitchen does not have the appropriate capacity to make the food with caution within the time frame request and with the correct transportation and packaging materials for your menu iteams: Would not recommend for group orders; Would not recommend customer service which seemed rude and unhelpful; And would not recommend the food for its quality or taste, various iteams sounded good but when ordered and received came out small and not appealing; As the old saying goes “the food here is terrible.”

I went in this morning and must say it was a great experience. The service, atmosphere and food were all great and I am so happy about the new ventilation system. I look forward to many more visits.

I love coming to Cafe Rica! I am always greeted with a friendly smile by the staff and my coffee is made to perfection- no matter how I order it (oat milk, half syrup, etc). Keep up the great work.
