Familiars Coffee & Tea

Since day one, Familiars Cafe has blown me away with their greatness.

From the counter staff to the coffee, food and decor, this establishment gets 10’s across the board from me. I’ve worked in specialty coffee for several years and I’m a harsh critic when it comes to how espresso drinks are crafted and the overall cafe experience.

The owners Danny and Isaac are some of the sweetest folks I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. They are always present and do their best to insure that all patrons have a pleasant experience. Not only that, but they make a genuine effort to get to know their ‘familiars’, which is in my option, one of the most crucial components of maintaining a space like this.

The atmosphere is beautiful and comforting. It’s a great space to be in, whether you’re in and out for a quick pick-me-up or if you’re looking to post up and get some work done or meet with a friend.

I was impressed with the variety of drink and food options on their menu. There’s something for everyone, even if you have a dietary restriction.

This little gem of a space is something I’ve wanted to exist in Northampton for ages and I couldn’t be more thrilled with it.

It was such a fascinating experience to finally be able to get a cup of coffee at one of the most unique spots downtown. Since moving to Northampton, I have always imagined the wonderful ways this space could be used and Familiars exceeded all of those expectations. Incredible coffee, delicious breakfast sandwiches, and many options for vegans and vegetarians. This place is going to be the next big thing.

First time and definitely a great spot for grabbing a bite to eat, a drink with friends, and some studying. They've done an awesome job with the design and layout. The menu has a little something for everyone and I had a delicious tempeh sandwich accompanied by a blueberry muffin. Not sure where they get there coffee but it was very good and I like my coffee black. They have various milk options for those with allergies or vegan. Looking forward to heading back next time we are in Northampton.

We stop here every time we drive through or stay in Northampton. Very friendly and very delicious. The chicken salad sandwich and the match latte are my favs!

After a string of awful coffee in different cafes and diners on our weeklong stay in the Berkshires...we landed here on our drive home and were DELIGHTED. We got a hot latte and a hot "Spanish" latte (with sweet condensed milk), both were terrific. Finally baristas that know what they're doing!! We never met them, because you order online and pick up at the door -- a super seamless process, to my surprise -- these folks know what they're doing. I'm guessing this is a COVID-era setup, but I wonder if they'll keep it? My feeling is - if not interacting with the public allows them to make great coffee - hell yes. Thank you, Familiars!!!
PS lots of seating outside, street was closed to cars, not sure if this is permanent. We visited on a June Saturday. We didn't sit long, but it looked like a pleasant place to while away an afternoon.

The atmosphere is so charming here! It's not everyday you can eat breakfast in a trolley car, is it? My breakfast bagel and latte were tasty and satisfying, too. To top it off, the staff working there are all very friendly. I'll definitely be back!

Great Coffee! Vegan muffin! Can’t even tell that it’s vegan. Perfect atmosphere. Staff is friendly & accommodating. A lot of windows for big beautiful natural light. I love it & the plants are doing great!

Unlike many Northampton coffee shops Familiars has the BEST staff. Welcoming, friendly --- just great personalities all around. I'm an active coffee shop type of person to hunker down and get work done because I get distracted at home. Unfortunately, I've always had a very staunch and unfriendly vibe from the surrounding coffee shops. I gave up giving my money to those shops in pursuit of finding a better fit to spend my money, lol. Familiars strips that stoic feeling to shreds with a totally chill vibe without being pretentious. Who would have thought? I hope this new addition is here to stay for a long time. Thank you for being here! Great prices as well. Have to say probably the best value in town. xo

What a surprise, a very pleasant one!
Very welcoming, excellent lattes, they offer over 30 different kinds of Tea, the food menu is small, omg, mostly geared vegan, but the BEST TURKEY SANDWICH I've ever had! Outdoor sit, exceptional. ENjoy! Friendly owner!
