Great sweet bakery items and wonderful lattes. Try the quiche and breakfast sandwiches! If you have time, get the latte to go and walk the boardwalk at North Beach, even in the winter it's a beautiful morning walk.
Update: They've expanded their sweet bakery items, as well as their trinkets. If you're looking for some eclectic gifts, you can grab a coffee and browse their trinkets.

Absolutely amazing! Coffee is great, I got the raspberry almond iced espresso, my grandmother got the cinnamon bun! Love the pride stuff too!!

A cozy little bakery with an artsy vibe and a beautifully inclusive aesthetic and atmosphere. We ordered their bacon egg and cheese on everything bagels and they were delicious! The drip coffee was a little weak so next time I'll get espresso. Everyone was kind and accommodating, and loved that we were trying to reduce our plastic/paper disposables use! They had a large assortment of cute and witty coffee/bakery apparel/mugs/totes. Will definitely be coming back when we're in the area! Thanks for doing what you're doing!

The breakfast sandwich was delicious! The service was friendly. The pastry options were overwhelming in the best way.

This place is dangerous!! Can't get anything sweet here, you will get more I promise. Too good if you're not watching your diet. If you are, stich to chai...Definitely a cheat day spot.

I went into the Bakist on Father’s Day to get a muffin to go with my coffee. I ordered their “sunrise muffin” which the person behind the counter said was loaded with raisins, shredded carrots, nuts, etc. Sounded great. But it was a great mistake. I’ve been having these muffins at a variety of coffee shops for years and expected something moist, tasty, and a perfect companion to my coffee. Not to be. It was dry, without any real flavor, and I ended up picking through it to find something edible. I probably threw away 75% of the muffin.
Prior to submitting these comments I noted I was not the only one with similar comments, ranging from 23 hours to 8 months ago. You would think a bakery could make a moist, tasteful muffin. Would highly recommend they change their recipe for their muffins.

my husband & I just recently moved to MD and “the bakist” was an easy choice for becoming our new go-to coffee spot 💕
cool atmosphere, LGBTQ+ friendly, amazing staff (david is a total sweetheart), yummy vegetarian food that tastes very fresh (I HIGHLY recommend the veggie quiche, #2 avocado toast & asiago bagel options) and very very good coffee (give the lavender latte a try the next time you’re in 😍) close to the boardwalk/pier as well, with a few outdoor seating options
I love all of their merchandise, stickers, etc too. they’re moving to a bigger location currently right down the road & I was told by one of the employees that it should be up & running hopefully by spring/summer 2023
truly cannot recommend this place enough!!

Nice coffee shop and there are a bit more offerings since "the Bakist" took over from the previous bakery/coffee shop.
I was taken back when the chocolate croissant had a custard inside as well as delicious chocolate. A little weird but edible.
