I come to coffeeshops specifically to spend time. I like to find a corner, preferably with an outlet, and listen to the sound. Some coffeeshops have a nice degree of chitter; others, like this Tatte, are subdued, allowing you to either listen to the music, or to your own.

Tatte is notable for also feeling like a chic restaurant, with sumptuous dishes that leave you very filled, and coffee so dense to die for. There are so many seats, and so many options. Breakfast all day; breakfast at Tatte's in DC.

Food is amazing! I’d go back for the Pistachio croissant!

Both Pastries and breakfasts were very good. Coffee was excellent. Outdoor seating available.

I was in the area for work and love the place so much I came back twice. I bought the house latté and the winter farro bowl. Both were prepared quickly and were excellent. The house latté was particularly unique and definitely worth a try.

Went in for breakfast just as they opened. I had the spinach, sunchoke and egg plate - the food was delicious and the house cardamom latte was on point even if just a tad tepid.

Terrible acoustics. Too loud, even with just a few people talking. Though the space itself is pleasant visually, high ceilings and so on, sound/noise control wasn’t given much thought. Looks nice, feels off.

I always wanted to go to one of these spots after seeing one in DC downtown and liking the architecture and the interior. Turns out it’s not comfy and warm. A sense of disharmony.

Menu was okay. Could find pastries halfway healthful. The one that looked decent tasted much too sweet.

Asked for “for here” mugs but was given a paper cups and one drink was wrong.

Not sure I would be back since this place didn’t wow me like I had hoped.

I like the decor style. White, black and brown theme looks so comfortable. The smoke salmon and avocado sandwich is super delicious. Good place to hangout.

I kinda like this place .
However same sterile atmosphere like compass coffee shop or others , nothing new here either , it is not cozy at all but clean .
Service is good ( early morning ).
+ expensive as other places .

It's always fantastic to see another Tatte location pop up! Coffee - super. The desserts aren't incredible but they do serve their purpose and are a nice addition to an afternoon out. Great space for working.

CROQUE MADAME - $13.50
Housemade croissant, ham, Gruyère, egg your style* topped with Mornay sauce.
*Surprisingly the croissant remained crispy even though the Mornay sauce was poured on top, small portion of the ham and cheese but a lovely poached egg to add a great creaminess to the dish. Is there a double topping option because if so I'd get this again with some extra ham and cheese, it was a little skimpy.

SHORT RIB GRILLED CHEESE - $ 11
Housemade braised short rib, aged cheddar served with horseradish beet relish on housemade challah.
*So when you think grilled cheese you think melted cheese and a good cheese pull, this sandwich is extremely thin, the cheese was not melted and overall the sandwich was room temperature. We sent this back and someone came out to tell us that there is someone training that didn't make the sandwich correctly - no problem. So they the second sandwich was hot but not a lot of cheese, nor much short rib. I would skip this sandwich.
