The Java Break

I have been in Lawrence for about seven years now and I have to say, I love this little coffee shop. The peanut butter cookies are unforgettable and the coffee is delicious! The staff is efficient and helpful, not to mention it is an excellent place to study! I can't tell you how many nights the cereal bar kept me going through a homework assignment. Gotta check it out people <3 this place has a special place in my book of favorite coffee shops.

Still love the coffee but today when we went in today the guy was kinda snippy, bit rude. The girl who is usually behind the counter is alot more friendly. My 5 star is now down to a 3 star. I prefer my coffee served with positive attitude, a smile and a your welcome after I say thanks not a dirty look as I walk out the door.

super cute little place in lawrence. the staff is friendly and the drinks are yummy!! i believe they offer gluten free options and they have home made almond milk that i want to go back to try. great place to study, work and it’s quiet with multiple rooms.

I have written a lot of words at this place. I love that it's 24/7 and wish more places were like it. Their cereal bar is great and so are their sandwiches. Their coffee is good and the staff is usually friendly. A lot of space too. I miss this place now that I don't live anywhere near it.

Love this place! Montana is awesome and makes 👌 drinks. Everyone has been friendly. Love the local downtown Lawrence KS feel. One of a kind place. Plus they have a cereal bar 🥣

The guy working the counter did a great job! They have meat and veggie food options. Some of the cereals at their cerealbar are vegan and the housemade almond milk is delicious! Fun small diner atmosphere. Outside and inside seating is available. The coffee menu is average size and non coffee drinks are also offered. Recommend!

I ordered the house special Snickers latte iced (suggested by the barista) and it was amazing! Servers are friendly. Atmosphere is nice. Probably going to be back soon with some friends!

This place tries deliberately to look like a bohemian café from another era. One could imagine this place in San Francisco in the Beatnik era, or Houston during the 1970s. Its retro look, combined with it's good selection of coffee, smoothies, and other drinks, and its very long hours, make it a good hangout for students, or adults like me who wish we were still students. I cannot vouch for the food menu. Whenever I have been there, the clientele has covered a wide range of ages, races, and other demographic backgrounds, so don't worry, you'll fit in just fine.

The wait to order our drinks was extremely long, and once we were finally served our drinks they were terrible. I ordered a Chai Tea Latte and received poorly crafted apple cider tea/coffee? something. It was disgusting and I could not finish it. I have heard their drinks are usually great, but my experience has turned me away from this establishment for good. I was really looking forward to it, but I cannot respect a place that cannot make a regular Chai Tea Latte when the post about how it is one of their specialties.
