The Java Break

This place is one of our main stops when we are in Lawrence. They have really good food, pastries and drinks. There's also a cereal bar there where you can order up to three different kinds of cereal, milk and a topping (M&M's, Almonds...etc) Then they put it in a Chinese style to-go container, so you can take it with you and eat it wherever. Really cool and unique place.

Wonderful place to hang out and enjoy coffee and visit. It's in basement with really cool ambiance and they have a cereal bar, baked items and sandwiches. Snickers latte is amazing!

Tip them well, all of you! I frequent this little spot on Saturday mornings, sometimes before the farmer’s market. Coffee is great and the staff is wonderful! I say tip them extra (always), because in the last month or two, I believe either the manager or owner has been there and berates the employees well within ear shot of customers. Again, the employees aside from this person are incredible! Pay them a visit—I recommend the Irish Nut!

Love this place, been coming here for years! Great coffee and staff. I wish they still had raspberry scones though, they were incredible.

I love this place! The coffee is amazing, and the soda's are incredible!! Such a nice staff and environment as well. Would definitely recommend!

On one of our regular stops through Lawrence, we chose Java Break for breakfast. The mocha chai and London fog on the menu caught my eye, then I saw that they had several breakfast options. I ordered the mocha chai and a raspberry scone. My husband had a regular coffee and a breakfast panini. It was exactly what we needed. The grungy bohemian style is comfortable and quintessential local coffeehouse. The cereal bar is so cute and I hope to try that next time. The barista/owner was friendly and prompt, juggling several customers without breaking a sweat. We will be back!

I love the funky atmosphere here! The drinks are delicious, as well as the sweet treats. And you get to roll the dice to try and win a free drink! What’s better than that? Open late, with a cereal bar and kitsch charm. My only complaint? No realcups for order in, so lots of plastic waste. Bring your own reusable cup, the planet thanks you.

Very weird (in a good way). Nice and cool staff. Only open until 12am now which isn’t as nice for those wanting to study late at night. But great cereal bar and food options. Smoothies are better than the coffee. But overall great place to hang out and study.
