I want to like this place, but it's truly awful. We've given this place several chances over the last few years and the service is consistently terrible. I don't know how it's still surviving. Here's a break down of every time we've visited: Expect a long wait for a table. Then, once you seat yourself, expect to get ignored completely by all waiters. Next, you'll probably see the menus at the end of the bar and grab some yourself to hint that you're serious, (but it won't work.) Now you'll
take a deep breath, smile and politely wave at several workers until one decides you're worthy. Congrats! You finally get an order in! This is when you'll hopefully have a fantastic novel to read because you'll have plenty of uninterrupted time, about an hour at least, to finish said novel until you see your waiter again with your food. The food is fine. But you won't enjoy it, because you'll be glancing over your shoulder at the many hungry patrons wasting away in the entryway, waiting for your table. So if this sounds like fun, go for it! Personally, I don't get it.

Absolutely delicious! We go there every time we take visitors to The Grout Museum. One of the best Rubens I've ever had! If your in or going to Waterloo make it point to go, you will not be disappointed

I fell in love with the outside appearance of the restaurant but stepping in, there were numerous flies, unsanitary-looking eating surfaces, and the servers didn’t make it their first priority to seat us. I liked the atmosphere and colors of the interior, but still, I have concerns. The employees were nice, but when talking on their own in the view of customers, they were speaking about not so appropriate things that should be heard by the people who enter. The food was overpriced and the quality of the dishes didn’t fit what it said it was worth at all. My dish was burnt and unpleasant to eat, but I have to admit, the fries were fantastic. There are a lot of concerns I have based around the sanitary aspect of this restaurant. (Might I add, one of the servers dropped the rag they were cleaning tables with, onto the ground and wiped a table with it after without cleaning it.)
Overall, I don’t believe Newton’s Paradise Cafe deserves a 4 star rating due to my experience there and the many other encounters related to mine that others may have had.

This place used to be awesome. Ate there on a Sunday afternoon and the patio was a mess and 3 tables sat uncleared around us while we ate, attracting flies. Watched 2 groups get up an leave because no one waited on them. This used to be a great place to go now it's a bit dirty and clearly the staff is not motivated to get to you quickly.....Sadness. Always loved the bloody marys.

I have always really loved Newton's, until today. The service was terrible, the food took forever and was awful. The curds were so salty they were inedible, the roast beef sandwich was cold in the center and after one bite- the beef tasted old. The floor was dirty and the menu's sticky. I was embarrassed to have taken a guest, after saying how great it was.

The food is always good and I hope they stay in business for many years to come but in order to ensure that has a chance of happening they will need to update the worn out booths with holes and protruding springs and scrub the grease from the surfaces and a basic dusting wouldn’t do any harm as well. The place had developed a general funk about it, and the nostalgia of old “greasy spoon” mentality only goes so far before the offense to the nose overrides the ability to enjoy the food.

Tasty food, but very overpriced. Also, do not order the bottomless mimosa or bloody mary unless you know you want more than one. Ordered the bottomless bloody mary and ended up not really enjoying it, asked to update my order to a single bloody mary vs bottomless and the guy said that his manager wouldn't allow him to. Seemed cheapskate-ish to me.
