It's always great to stop into the Bluebird Cafe when we are in town.
It's such a nice place to sit and eat with great service and delicious food!

We used to come here often for lunch with family and friends between Cedar Rapids and Iowa City, but moved away a few years ago. Came back expecting the same surprisingly good (5/5) food and was extremely disappointed. Could have been an off day, but the portions were much smaller and the ingredient quality seemed worse. For reference we had the omelet, Cuban and burger.

Generally, it was good. Service was solid. Some of the menu items fell a little short of what I would expect here. Scrambled eggs were over cooked. Corned beef hash was a little light on the corned beef - it was good though. I'd love to find a place that can actually do an over-medium egg.

Unorthodox layout, but it makes it a more unique experience. Friendly staff, it seems like they enjoy working there instead of just doing it because they have to.

Think: Perkins or Village Inn, but hometown cooking with a cozy small business feel.

Tried this location looking for a good diner-like breakfast spot, but was pretty disappointed. The breakfast selection was fine though not extensive. Ordered an exciting-sounding specialty omelette to find it was dry and flavorless. Hash browns were fine but not great. My wife's eggs benedict was very lightly coated in runny hollandaise sauce. The coffee was weak. The service was pretty good with attentive staff though perhaps a bit eager to clear our unfinished plates. The setting is fine with booths and tables warmly decorated with kitschy paraphernalia. Parking was easy. Overall, solidly meh. I'll be trying somewhere else next time.

The owners as well as the staff make sure to know you if you become a regular. My husband and I loved them so much we had lunch there on our wedding day and they had about 30mins notice for about 15 people! I love them and their food is tasty. What is even better, is if you have severe allergies they cook on separate cookers etc for you! So considerate!

Wow!! We are traveling across the country and have stopped at many restaurants along the way! This is by far the best meal we’ve had! Service with a smile, interesting menu, great portions, with fair prices! Highly recommended!

Good food, quick service, and quaint atmosphere. It has a classic diner esthetic with quick service. They are always hopping, especially during breakfast times, but their efficiency makes the wait for a table not long at all. Food is quick out of the kitchen and very good. They have all the classic breakfast staples, with some of their own specialties. They also have a good lunch menu. Prices are not bad at all, you can get a nice breakfast for 2 for $25. The restaurant is clean and well kept as well. Overall a great breakfast or lunch stop.
