We were driving through Des Moines and were searching for a coffee shop - Zanzibar's stood out as a great place to try and we were so glad we stopped here!! Incredible mocha breve and sweet cream coffee - my only regret is that I didn't order multiples!! The flavor of the beans were crafted and curated so well - I wish we lived closer because this place would be a staple for us if we lived in the Des Moines area. Oh, and did I mention the banana bread?? Seriously amazing - some of the best I've ever had - great flavor, wasn't dry, and a substantial sized slice. The place was packed out too, so you knew from the start that it was a great place. The baristas were focused yet friendly and I felt comfortable asking questions if needed. The next time we're in the area, we'll definitely be back and I'll know to double up on my order too!

Excellent experience - owner takes pride in her business, waits on customers, and checks in to ensure everything meets your expectations. Coffee and atmosphere are both phenomenal! You must visit Zanzibar's!

The place is cozy! Their tea menu is great, I didn't expect they hand me such a tea menu. Their coffee is also great and you can choose to have that day's brew or get a French press of the coffee of your choice. The breakfast was okay, nothing impressive about it to name here!

What a gem! I stopped here before heading to Salisbury House. Their rosemary bread with eggs (pictured) was so good, and now Iām inspired to make rosemary bread at home. I also left with a half pound of an Indonesian blend of coffee beans.

Fantastic experience - great atmosphere, vibe, staff and coffee. It is a little dark inside the cafe and it can get quite loud. Seating is hard to find too on weekends, but it is still worth going and waiting for a spot. We sat out on the back patio and it was awesome. Highly recommend!

This is the most laid back coffee shop, and with good reason. When I walked in, I could feel that, at a minimum, I wouldn't have to worry about having bad coffee today. It was like stepping inside a different company, where you can let your coffee dictate your day's pace rather than the clock on the wall (there isn't one). It's quiet, so it's a great place for conversation. I got a Light Roast Red-eye, and it was probably the best I've ever had. They have tons of beans for purchase and are very eco-conscious. Ceramics for having coffee in house and a foam cup repository for recycling. I'll for sure be back, sooner rather than later.

Always a variety of new coffee selections. Best coffee I have had in Des Moines. Modest, but tasty selection of morning bites. I love the simple egg offering. Cozy, cramped, and consistently busy. For good reason...this is a special coffee spot!

Best coffee in the metro. I get my beans here for making espresso at home. The owner knows her stuff and I fully rely on her for good beans in this city.

Wonderful atmosphere; beans roasted in house; most confident and bold espresso pulled in Des Moines, hands down
