Centro

Absolutely fabulous! After a long day of travel in the car, Centro was a bit more upscale than our attire, but they welcomed us anyway with friendly greetings and warm smiles. The warmth extended to their pre-meal bread that was delicious. (Warning: save room for your meal!) I ordered the steak salad ($19) and my wife got the mac & cheese ($23). Enormous portions bursting with flavors. Because we were in a hurry, they got us in and out quickly, but I noticed other tables were enjoying their evening and their meals. And our server was timely without being overbearing. Just an overall great place.

This place has amazing options for vegetarians and vegans. The veggie burger here is honestly the best I've ever had in 13 years of vegetarianism and it's perfect for those who don't like impossible burgers. The decorations in the restaurant are really nice. It's never been too loud there. The wait staff is really good. Apps are spot on and the cocktail are dangerously delicious. Highly recommend for business dinners, dates, or birthdays.

The chicken panini was inedible (chicken was very overcooked) and I wouldn't bother with the bruschetta again (it comes with quartered tomatoes and large onion chunks that are obviously challenging to eat on little pieces of bread, and is mostly just onion-flavored) but the service, four cheese mac and the cocktails were excellent.
Five-star service, but food is a crapshoot.

Not only was our food fantastic (as usual) but Our waitress was exceptional, personable and hard working. Centro… thanks for never disappointing.

Wonderful place to eat in Des Moines. The waitress was hilarious, and our food (steak for my husband, pasta for me) was wonderful. They have a great wine and dessert menu, as well.

The atmosphere is extremely inviting just due to how large the space is. The ambiance is warm with the lights turned down a bit, the waiters are always so nice and come visit the appropriate amount of times! They box up the leftovers for you!

Our dinner was delicious. Hummus as our starter and Mac and Cheese for dinner. We've eaten here numerous times when we're in town and our meals are terrific!

Staff greeted us promptly upon arrival, we were seated immediately after verification of our reservation. Atmosphere was upscale; properly lit and a decent volume. Our waitress, Kali D was pleasant, informative, and attentive (don’t lose her she really made the night!).

Husband had Steak Centro - which was perfectly cooked per his request and paired with mashed potatoes and broccolini. I enjoyed the fried chicken salad. Would recommend both. We will be back to further explore the menu.

Hadn't been here in a few years, then went 2x in one month. Food is really heavy for Italian food, and it's over-cheffed. I had thought my first night there that my opinion was swayed by the lateness of the day, but the 2nd time, the food was even worse! If you're going here because someone else selected it, get the Flatbread. It appears they haven't yet gone over the top on it.

For years, Centro has provided not just great food, but great meals...the atmosphere, service, food, everything together makes for memories made.

We've had two of our children born near Centro, and each time, one treat was getting Centro-to-go while we were in the hospital, and that is a fun small token memory of the joy we had just received, entering into our family and the world. Centro--thank you!
