A great place with really friendly staff.

Maybe it was just an off day for them, I could tell they were training. We ordered four drinks and three of them were made incorrectly. There seemed to be frustration about this but perhaps it was directed towards the trainee. The women's restroom had no toilet paper or hand soap. Wish I would've discovered this prior to ordering (I probably wouldn't have).

Nice atmosphere and location is great for taking a walk along the river after. Food is delicious and servings are good size and very filling.

We REALLY wanted to like Chicory Cafe. The New Orleans style eatery intrigued us. Unfortunately, we were very unimpressedand left feeling dissatisfied. We'll begin first by saying the staff was friendly and the place was clean. Our beignets were good and so was my side of cornbread. Other than that, the food left us feeling underwhelmed. First, they were out of crawfish, which was a disappointment. I had the gumbo and not only was it STONE COLD, but it had 3 small pieces of sausage and 2 small pieces of shrimp. Honestly, it was mostly terribly seasoned okra and celery. Our spinach and artichoke dip was also very cold. My husband had the shrimp po boy. He gets a shrimp po boy basically everywhere that offers one and he said he had to choke it down. Place was dead and now we know why. Unfortunately, we won't be back.

Spinach artichoke dip (add a spice!)was mediocre at best; however shrimp po’ boy was very good.
Nice setting, great porch.

For several years it's remained a favorite stop. A comfortable atmosphere, good food and drinks, both coffee and a select cocktails, etc.
The staff are always pleasant, and it's very clean and inviting.

What a wonderful place in the heart of downtown Mishawaka! Very warm and cozy with beautiful outside dine area! My favorite it the Cajun Sausage Mac & Cheese. The Margarita flat bread is to die for! Its all so good! Highly recommend trying this place, you will go back often!

I searched for a place with a patio for the perfect weather. And it was beautiful. The downtown location next to a huge park on the river was perfect! I didn't want to run off to my appointment but instead just relax there for another hour or more. The medium roast coffee with chicory was so nice.
But there was a problem. I got the Mediterranean veggie with Cajun shrimp added. There was nothing about the $4 add-on shrimp that was cajun. It wasn't spicy at all. But the worst of it was the way they put this sandwich together. For a vegetarian sandwich which depends on hummus as the protein, it was a tiny film of hummus that was barely detectable. Because of this the sandwich was overwhelmed with bread. And worst of it was the huge chunks of cheese. It seems to have come from a tube of mozzarella about 1 1/4" in diameter. The the two slices on the sandwich was actually as much as a half inch thick!! On what planet would that be okay? I just imagine some cheese lover back there making the sandwiches and has no concept of what should make sense universally. I want to say so much more about how ridiculous that sandwich was. At least I ate it. The person I was with who had the exact same sandwich spent time picking through it before actually getting it down. It would be so simple and cost nothing extra to just make it right. If you think it needs a little extra cheese that would have been fine but just sprinkled all over, not in massive chunks. If it's a vegetarian sandwich with hummus, it needs to have a reasonable amount, and it needs to be great. It was such a letdown after such a great impression from the location, patio, great coffee and cleanliness.
Oh! About the patio. You don't have a great patio without umbrellas at each table! We were just fortunate to find a table with an umbrella.
Chicory Cafe....you are so close. It will only take tiny adjustments for you to be the absolute best place around!

Love this place. I'll be back to try other things.

Too expensive for bland food. The traditional mac 'n cheese ($11) tasted like boiled macaroni. The cajun shrimp po'boy ($9) had no amount of "cajun" to it and the shrimp was overcooked. To top the whole experience off, I witnessed a male staff member picking their nose behind the counter as we left (absolutely disgusting). I will never return to this restaurant.
