Fun place to see when visiting or passing through Blackfoot, Idaho. We spent about 2 hours here looking at and reading signs for the exhibits. There is a cafe at the end of the museum that has great French fries!

It covers the history of growing potatoes. Exciting to know how potatoes come to our plates…. The AR/VR glasses literally put you up in scenes for harvesting and extracting potatoes once they are ready. The person at the ticket counter is really kind!

I breathed in the rainy air as I walked to the entrance. An almost starchy aroma filled my lungs. I admired the biggest root vegetable I have ever seen. So big I really needed to grow some more eyes to take it all in. I was warmly welcomed by the front desk, a true sweet potato of a person. The information was abundant and filling. Just pour some gravy on top and I would have been quite satisfied. Russet, Yukon gold, Yukon white, fingerling, chips, fries, tots, mashed, hash…who knew there was such a cornucopia of choices? The process-extensive, the cartoon characters-enhancing, the toys-a welcome surprise for my uneducable children. We must deep fry this place. Encapsulate it for as long as the earth stands and the last potato sprouts it’s poisonous blossom.

Cute place to stop and stretch your legs if you’re on a road trip through the area! Admission was a reasonable $6 for adults and worth the few bucks. Lots of cool exhibits for adults, informative movies and interactive things for kids and kids at heart. The talking coach potatoes were my fav HA! Also try the cafe attached…your Idaho trio won’t be complete without trying Idaho potatoes in various delicious formats. The fries were delicious!

If you love Potatoes and learning about agriculture and history. Go! and the café is wonderful and the two ladies running the café so awesosme and friendly. I loved my visit and will be back.

Great place to go to learn about Idaho Potatoes. They have many old items and also a VR demo of how Potatoes are grown and harvested. Good place to stop on your way.

Very interesting. Well maintained and super clean. Who knew there was so much to learn about the humble potato.
Even the building itself is interesting
Great value!

We had an excellent visit except when leaving the girl closing the museum was rude. As we were leaving the museum (through the gift shop). She told us ‘I’m locking up now’. It was uncomfortable - I tried to explain that we weren’t trying to enter the museum and that we were leaving after viewing.

There’s also a cafe here. I ordered some yummy fries and my partner ordered chili fries.

If it weren’t for the rude service when we were exiting I would definitely recommend visiting this place if you have an hour so spare. Also if you’re from out of state you get a free instant potato packet. If you have AAA or military ID they offer a small discount on admission.

For the price it was a cute stop to learn the history of farming potatoes. The cafe was a little dirty , so we decided not to eat there . There was a few temperature sensitive items just sitting on the counter ( sour cream for ex) and the employees were not washing hands between ringing up customers and handling food .

We had just the best time here. Fascinating to learn the botanical history of potatoes and the agricultural history in Idaho. The exhibits were interesting and well laid out. They even had VR sets. Highly recommend if you’re in the area.
