Idaho Potato Museum & Potato Station Cafe

You can either start at the cafe or the gift shop to enter the museum. There is a lot of parking and even multiple spots great for RVs.

We entered at the gift shop. It had shirts, shot glasses, cups, along with multiple other trinkets, and a penny squish machine. We got some postcards and shot glasses and they were put in a mesh potato sack bag and got a package of locally grown dehydrated mashed potatoes which was entertaining.

The cafe had baked potatoes with a variety of toppings, fries, tots, soup, and drinks. It smelled wonderful and we smelled potatoes for a while after.

And the museum had a lot of information on... Potatoes. Along with antique and ancestral potato shaped and used items, a video, toys, kitchen appliances, talking potatoes, farm equipment, VR experience on a tractor and watching them till and moves potatoes, and a play area with Mr potato head.

The reason for 4 stars... I though it was entertaining and fun but my husband found it less entertaining and said he probably wouldn't pick to go again. He was expecting real potatoes or fake planter boxes to show how more home grown ones are done too apparently.

What a fun little museum. From the huge potato outside to the random facts you can review inside its a cute place to visit. They have a little souvenir shoo where you can find something fun as a keep sake. They also have a little Cafe to get yourself some delicious backed potatoes to end your visit. Take the kids in for a short stop to learn some history of the Idaho potato.

I must admit, I was pleasantly surprised by the Idaho Potato Museum. The building appears small; however, the museum is rather grand. Inside you'll find information starting from native America, ending in the modern day. They have paraphernalia of all kinds including farming, baking, alcohol, commercial, and toys. You can even see a potato signed by Al Gore!
They have two virtual reality headsets that allow you to see a potato harvest and computers with games. There is a small theater; however, I wasn't able to watch the show because the kiddos were happily taking me all over the museum .
There are public restrooms in the museum that are amazingly clean and smell that way too. Overall, a fascinating place and I'm happy to have gone.
There is a small gift shop with some fun items and the staff were friendly and personable. In a word, awesome.
Lastly, the potato bar is very yummy and reasonably priced. Try the fried potato dollars, absolutely fabulous.
We highly recommend a visit!

Fantastic experience. Everyone should come here at least once in their life. Baked potato and fries at end were phenomenal! History and items in the museum are awesome. The gift shop has some great items to take home for the whole family. Plus if you're a visitor, you get a nice little gift 😊

Fun museum and cafe! Who knew there would be so much to learn about the potato? Arrived just after 4 and knew we wouldn’t have much time, but not sure when we’ll ever be passing through Blackfoot again—so glad we stopped! We ordered two baked potatoes (they had chili and gravy topping that day), fries and coins. Museum closes right at 5, but we spent about a half hour exploring and then enjoyed our food just before we left. Cost of $6 per adult, $3 for kids ages 3-12, free under 3 years.

Well, you can't go to Idaho and NOT go to the Idaho Potato Museum (if it is on your way that is...). They have a nice spot for a family photo in the front. The prices were reasonable for admission AND outta staters get FREE taters!
I love potatoes in just about any form, so it was interesting to learn the history of why they grew them in Idaho and how they go from farm to table. If you are coming through, stop on by!

This is such a fun and educational place to visit! While there's certainly whimsy to the larger than life potato outside, appropriately themed gift shop bags, and entire concept of a potato museum there's also so much to learn! We had no idea there was so much interesting history behind potatoes and it was really fun getting to learn all about it in such a friendly and interactive environment! There were short films, cases full of peelers and mashers, lots of old equipment and photos, and endless "fun facts" posted all around! We had great interactions with everyone there as well, which is always a plus!

Fun and information museum about potatoes. We used AAA for discount for admission $5.50. If you order from their Cafe, order baked potato 2 hrs ahead. They are delicious and worth it! Some highlight photos from our visit.

Stopped here for a break from driving from Yellowstone to Salt Lake City. Admission to museum for adults is $6 but they have a $0.50 discount like AAA. Museum is okay and small; you’ll probably less an hour or less here. Stopped by the cafe to get a baked potato; gotta eat a potato item at a potato museum. I got the Chili n Cheese Baked Potato ($5.99).

First time going. Definitely will travel back. The staff was amazing! One let me put on a potato sack and pose. The Cafe made Tater Chips, that was incredible!. The staff found out it was our honeymoon and gave us two free potato pins!. Definitely am coming back to say hi and hang with them.
