Best breakfast on the island. Nice staff!

A very decent coffee shop. We were there for breakfast, but the typical Hawaiian open door environment let to many flies to our food.

They had the nerve to add 20% tip to our bill. You order online and they bring it to your table. They forgot 2 orders from our table. They came 10 minutes later. No one ever stopped by to refill water or ask if we needed anything. Very poor service and then an attitude when we questioned the bill. Stay away

Beware!!! The online menu has NOTHING to do with this 'bistro'. There are no omelettes, no waffles, no pancakes and they KNOW the website is wrong but continue to mislead customers. We drove way, way out of our way to come here on our last day of vacation. This was the only restaurant disappointment of the entire trip, I'm sorry to say. Stay in your hotel or general area before going to this place. I gave two stars instead of three because the food wasn't terrible.

Island Lava Java Waikoloa was not a dining experience I ever care to repeat. It was sheer and utter chaos from the moment we walked up and tried to ascertain what was going on. No hostess, no signs suggesting you seat yourself, no signs suggesting you wait to be seated, conflicting instructions from staff behind the counter and from the wait staff. We almost left right then, but it was the morning of my 40th birthday and I was feeling magnanimous. You have to order from your phone using a QR code, which is really annoying but I knew before we went based on reviews. Then it allows you to pre-pay: DO NOT PRE PAY. You can pay at the end of the meal. Also, the images on the online menu are deceptive. I ordered what I believed to be a plate of several pieces of toast (at least 5 according to the image) and I got ONE piece of toast sliced in half. For $4.50. When I complained, the server said she would try to get it comped and they took off a whopping 0.50 cents. Otherwise, when the food finally came out about 30-40 minutes later, it was pretty delicious. I should note that the walk-up/take-out customers were getting served MUCH quicker than diners sitting at tables and we did not receive our coffees until after we were finished eating (but they were delicious, 100% Kona coffee). My son devoured his $4.00 toast and $9.00 bowl of fruit. I loved the waffles and highly recommend it "island style." My husband's croissant sandwich had an undercooked egg that really grossed him out (it was dripping), but he managed to eat around it. I think we would have been relatively upset by the experience had it not been for our server Alex. She was amazing: hard working, cordial, so good under obvious pressure, and one of the only people there who seemed to know what she was doing. She made the experience much better than it would have been otherwise. Advice to management: hire more people, get some signs, and invest in an organizational plan.

Great breakfast joint! I have ate here multiple times and have no been disappointed.

You have to use your phone to read the menu, order and pay which is extremely difficult for my senior parents. Food was good but my latte was weak and just tasted like warm milk. Also the drip coffee is almost as much as a latte which is odd. I left a tip though I’m not sure why seeing as how there’s no actual service.

Fabulous place! We stopped in near closing and the owner went out of her way to make sure we could get some take away and then stocked us up on the remaining pastries from the day. We are still enjoying the treats a few days later! Wonderful food and wonderful owner!

My family and I absolutely love this restaurant for breakfast! Staff is friendly and orders are always correct. The iced lattes and the waffles are delicious! The egg and ham breakfast sandwich is also delicious! This is one of our favorite breakfast spots on the island and prices are very reasonable.
