This restaurant is under new ownership so ignore any reviews before September 2020. The new owner ran a very successful food truck before settling into this location. Great food at local prices. Nice dining atmosphere and central location. Try it, you’ll like it.

I come here every time I'm in Kauai and it never disappoints (except when the power was out.) The Mac Nut Roll is amazing and the food is always fast and big portions of tasty caté fare. Servers are straight to business which may seem unfriendly, but given their volume and only two servers, it makes sense to anyone who has waited tables before. Cash only and get there early!

This is a walk-up and order cafe, with tables outside. The coffees, juice, and meals are delicious and freshly made. The people are friendly and very helpful. We loved it!

Stopped in for the first time. Small, no frills. Our initial greeting was not very welcoming but we didn't let that change our minds. Server was quite friendly, food was fast. Portions on the smaller side but very tasty! Prices a bit high for portion sizes.

My wife and I had the worst experience at this restraunt. We have eaten here a few times and this time we agreed we will never go back. Yes, there are a few unique options we've had on the menu that are decent enough but overall, It's overpriced for just average food AND we've met the owner who is the main cook and occasionally is also a server who has never been joyful or happy while speaking with us or other customers as we listened in. And the rules of the menu: are absolutely NO SUBSTITUTIONS! We recommend you never go here --- unless you you are in a bad mood, want precooked reheated food, or want to flip your good morning into a bad one.

Waited in line for 30 minutes only to arrive to the front of the line and be treated so poorly by the woman at the front register. I’ve never been so humiliated or felt so disrespected.... ever.
Save your dignity and travel up the road a little ways to Hanalei Bread Company for delicious breakfast served with a smile!

Honestly, at first glimpse of this place, I was at home. The corner it is tucked into is small and cozy, just for my liking. I know, I know, I’m talking way too much about the place and not enough about the food. Don’t worry, I’m getting to that right now... Okay, the food is just amazing. Just AMAZING!!! I mean, their tater tots are perfectly crispy, with the satisfying crunch! when you bite into them. Also, try their dragonfruit lemonade. It’s really good!!! Then, at the wake up cafe coffee bar, they have like 10 different flavors of milk, so many I can only name a few: oat milk, almond milk, whole milk, macnut milk, half and half... okay, maybe I named more than just a few. But if you go there, ask for their chai tea sweetened with milk and honey. It is soooooooooooo good!!!!!!!!!!
Okay, I could drone on all day about how amazing this place is, but... I can’t! Because I’m going there right now to get a chai tea and maybe some pumpkin French toast. So anyway, here’s the point: if you are visiting the north shore, you have no place to go for breakfast and brunch, and your super hungry, I suggest WAKE UP CAFE and TRUCKING DELICIOUS!!! I ❤️ It so much!

Wow! What a beautiful view of the North Shore Mountains and water falls from the coolest Cafe in Hanalei. The staff are super friendly and provide excellent service. The food, in a word, AWSOME. Try their Mac nut cinnamon roll. Go early. They open at seven and it is CASH ONLY. A must try.

This was a terrible breakfast. We saw good reviews on trip advisor... We are pretty sure they wrote those themselves. The server we had was crass and rude. She loudly talked about her hook ups and how hung over she was. We did not feel like we could ask for anything because she was so short with us. The food was gross. The hash browns were not made today and the bacon is mass cooked in advance and microwaved. They do not use real butter or eggs. Our experience was awful. I almost told the table behind us to get out while they could. I strongly recommend that you DO NOT EAT HERE! Save your time and money. (everything is way over priced. $4 for regular coffee)

Echoing other reviews that the food is priced high for the portions and that the server was a bit rude. (Was upset that I just wanted water to drink/too much pressure on the upsell. Asked her to keep the coins as it would be part of tip anyways, then was told that I probably needed it more than she did.) Food itself was fine, but do not need to visit again.
