This shop has great coffee, baristas who are friendly/care a lot about quality, delicious food, and usually has plenty of seating and fast WiFi. It’s expensive, even for a coffee shop, but in general the level of quality makes it worth it.
The reason I gave three stars is because they really really need a non dairy milk option that works in hot drinks. I can’t have dairy unfortunately, and they have an organic soy milk that is great in cold drinks. However, for some reason when combined with espresso in the hot drinks it turns into this weird tofu-like thick gross concoction. I try it again every so often, and each time I’m reminded how bad it actually is.
It’s been this way since I’ve been going there, which is at least a year at this point. I feel like it’s crazy to pay so much attention to detail with everything, which they definitely do, but then ignore the fact that the only non dairy milk option just doesn’t work in half of the drinks. Would happily change the review to 5 stars if this was changed!
Edit: they got a new non dairy milk! All is well now.

Stopped here while in town, friendly staff and very creative, they made this design by hand.

Oh now this place has really good coffee too! They know how to make Cuban coffee and put beautiful pictures on the top using the steamed milk. Very artistic! Thanks for your excellent service.

Amazing coffee and chocolates. All out of this world with awesome customers service.

Delicious coffee and super clean shop. The kicker, for me at least, is the staff. Not sure when the norm for local coffee shops was just a consistent "I hate you and my job" disposition, but Volta breaks away from it beautifully.
Keep up the good work!

I don’t think I’ve ever given a place a lower rating because of their music choice, but Volta... you gotta stop with the music. They play a bunch of indie/alternative music, which I’ll admit isn’t my kind of music but I respect it. But the songs they choose to play are honestly awful, I’m talking screeching and random high pitched screams awful (like what?), and super distracting even with my headphones on. The coffee is sooo great though!! But also, please provide more seating (the seats being comfortable would also be nice).

This place serves very good coffee drinks and employs very nice people. But it’s esthetics seem to emulate a sad eatery in a communist village 30 years ago. Cheap plastic chairs and tables scattered around a large space are antithetical to the cozy, especially during evening hours.

Very acceptable coffee spot—they really know their stuff (possibly to a fault unless you are a hardcore coffee snob and like that kind of snobbery in return) and they make a mean pour-over: perfectly extracted and balanced—exactly what that particular coffee should taste like. Espresso drinks are solid too. Would definitely return next time I’m in Gainesville.

10112020, Latte with an extra shot, whole milk, and cinnamon no sweetener(I'm sweet enough, Bricktop/Snatch): Stopped by during socially "Vid" distancing and in rain without an umbrella, so it's tough work for any business to work a stay-outside, order-at-the-window condition like that. Fortunately, I don't melt. I had heard good things, and I was not disappointed. THAT was the smoothest latte ever. Only twice previously had I had such a similar, delicious experience: An actual 'bucks barista who you could see cared about what they were doing when making a Flat White with Vanilla(tastes like toasted marshmallows by the way.) and Toscanini's IceCream in Cambridge, MA and their Vanilla Latte made with 18% cream infused with vanilla beans for two weeks. It's always nice to add a positive, superlative to your life. Now, go get yourself one!

Really delicious tea. Very cool atmosphere. I wish the music could be quieter. It can be very hard to concentrate on reading with the music up so loud.
If you don't need to study and you want some great tea or coffee. Check this place out. If you need to study, bring headphones.
