Delicious authentic Puerto Rican food! We ordered a sampling of food- chicken mofongo, arroz con gandules, beef pastelillos, ensalada de pulpo, and carne frita. Everything was delicious but my favorite was the pulpo! The tostones have chunks of garlic on them! The good strong garlic. We had medalla and a pina colada. The pina colada was absolutely delicious! The service was also AMAZING! The owner checked in on us and chatted throughout our meal (as did other staff). We felt so welcomed by all of the staff. 100% recommend!
Everything at La Famosa was AMAZING. From the customer service to the accommodations/dietary restrictions all the way to the food (including dessert). Everything was very thought. Everyone was extremely kind, helpful and overall amazing.
Guys… Puerto Rican food should have taste… however here the food looks very instagramable but lucks of taste. The place itself looks nice and the service is amazing. But the food….
I was very excited to go to this restaurant. I hadn't had Puertorican Food in a loooooong time. I really miss it.
So I had very high expectations. And the experience I was hoping for was just not there.
CUSTOMER SERVICE
One of best I have had. If my rating Would have been based on customer service it would have been 10 stars! Everyone was so awesome.
FOOD
Here is where we hit the low point in my humble opinion.
Expensive, but that's to be expected since they are located in a nice and fast growing part of DC.
We ordered two Mofongos, shrimp/pork belly.
Textures of mofongo were different from what I'm used to. This mofongo was more mushy instead of crunchy. So it made me feel un easy. The pork belly was missing flavor. A bit of a wierd aftertaste.
And then SALTY, BUT I MEAN SALTY! We went for a walk and buy stuff and after driving 40 min home we still had the salt attacking our taste buds. I think I have to take blood pressure medication. We couldn't finish any of our mofongos.
The Shrimp was much better. Sadly the mofongo was salty.
VIRGIN PIÑA COLADA...Spectacular! RIKI-TIKI... Also awesome, but much more sweet.
Pastelillos de Guayaba... loved them. They were not too sweet and the pastry balanced PERFECTO 👌 with the guava.

PARKING
Just go to one of the paid parking areas. It may set you back a couple of bucks on the weekend. During the week it will cost you much, much more.

SUMMARY
I miss my Puertorican dishes. And I look forward to return to see if this was a fluke.
But I was really impressed with customer service, everyone treated us well. They were charming, warm and always with a smile. I shall definitely RETURN to taste another dish and compare.
And coming in 2022, on YouTube...With a taste of Immigration....
A phenomenal eatery; definitely more on the “artisanal” side and therefore less authentic than I’d like for PR food however things were tasty and enjoyable. Every single rum drink on the menu is stellar; 5 stars for their drinks alone.
Excellent place!! The taste of the food reminds me the restaurants in Joyuda in Puerto Rico. The chillo frito and the mofongo!!! Wow!! Highly recommended!!
Wow! That’s all I can say! It was amazing. The food delicious and the service 5 star. If I could then more stars I would. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.
So many things wrong about a Puerto Rican restaurant. For starters, it's so impersonal. You order your food from your phone, and almost instantly, your food will come out. A "server" brings your food and rushes away. We had two different servers do the same thing, with nasty attitudes. It was strange how fast the food came, until we realized that the food was just warmed up (and not even warmed up fully). Food was not authentic. My rice came at room temperature, not warm at all. The portions were tiny. When we asked for a cup of water, they pointed us to a fill station and told us to help ourselves, without giving eye contact. The same waiter that seemed in a rush to leave us, then walked across the restaurant and began just sitting around and chatting with the other workers. The food was cold, unseasoned, and tiny. I just can't believe I spent my money here. I never ever leave bad reviews, but I'm genuinely shocked.

Loved the mofongo and chicken. Service was excellent. The salsa and guaguancó music background was perfect. Everything was great!

Loved it. Vegetarian options for the pastelillos and other things. Can’t wait to come back. Really good plantains and guava pastries.
