The staff was nice for the interactions we had. They prefer to use barcode menus and with bring the food to you after you order on your device. Minimal interaction with actual staff. The food was tasty and somewhat reasonably priced. Would go again.

We just had a delicious dinner at La Famosa! It was a great stop after a Nats game. We sat at the bar and the bartender was friendly and had great recommendations. Drinks and food were delicious!

There is more than one reason why La Famosa could fall short of a 5 star rating, yet the overall feeling when you leave this place is so good you just can't help give it its due. What inspires that overall feeling are unique flavors (tamarind or soursop fruit shakes anyone?), unique presentations (not every day do you eat out of what is essentially a wooden bucket), and a setting that is both laid back and energetic/fun (try to get one of the swinging bench seats near the front window).

Where La Famosa could use some improvement (and I only say this because I want them to move from "pretty good" to "great") is the price points (the aforementioned fruit shakes are way way too small to cost $7 each - I had to buy 2 to feel satisfied) and the flavors of the mains (the mofongo - mashed plantains topped with pork belly - for some reason lacks any measure of sauce and/or spice which leaves you having to push yourself to finish what ends up being a lot of somewhat bland mash).

Again, I'm still giving La Famosa a 5 because of what it offers and what it does well, though if the prices go any higher, it just won't be worth it anymore, and I'd hate to see that happen because this place has enough potential to be a D.C. mainstay.

The “carne frita” (fried pork belly) was super small and mostly fat, almost no meat. That was not definitely what Latin know as “carne frita” - as stated on their menu.
The bread of the sandwiches were very wet, to the point that you can’t hold it with your hands.
The tostones were sweet, they were to the point to be sweet plantains (tostones manchosos).
The flavor was ok.
The food was prepared as requested.
We didn’t had issues with the service.

Someone’s social media page sent me here. The food looked so good. We ordered via the QR code and understanding the menu was difficult so I settled on the beef picadillo pastelillos. They came out fast and hot. They are small and tasted well seasoned. The sangria was tasty. Sweet and fruity. We had to pay for our food via my phone which then closed out the bill. I’m all for less contact as needed but when I wanted to order something else I needed to start a new transaction. It was time consuming, first world problem. I know. Parking is available on the street and garage.

The pastries were really tasty. Definitely want to go back to try the savory things too. Staff was really friendly. Loved learning about the custom Ceremony coffee roast.

Like many restaurants these days, the prices at this place are high. But I would argue that the value is equally high. Simply delicious options that are presented in a beautiful manner. I've had the incredible chicken sandwich countless times, and the fish sandwich was also awesome. Also tried the little double espresso drink that has a sweet cream added....so good!

From my experience, everything here will satisfy you. Bright, attractive decor and very attentive staff. Planning to make thus a date lunch stop soon!

We loved this place. The pastelitos and cheese balls were good, much better than expected! I had the mofongo and have to say it was one of the best mofongos we have has in years… we will try the deserts next time. The medallas are overpriced in our opinion, but the food is priced for the area I guess. We will be back 🥰
