La Coop is a charming local coffee shop that does the basics right! From a perfectly sweet mocha, to the best flat white coffee I’ve had in months, this place is a welcome addition to the Kennedy Street neighborhood. The inside is clean, cozy and an Instagram dream. I’m surprised that this newly opened cafe is able to offer such a wide variety of coffee drinks all sourced from fair-trade bean farmers in Guatemala. Not to mention the delicious assortment of fresh pastries for sale every morning! Where else are you going to find chorizo empanadas for breakfast? We’ve been three times since they opened on 7/1/20 and we can’t wait to make this our new favorite hangout place!

Delicious bagelito and breakfast sandwich! Great vibes. Francisco was wonderful to us.

What a great coffee shop on the edge of a neat little neighborhood. I came upon it by accident while out strolling con la nieta and ended up talking with Juan, the owner, for a bit. The beans come from his family's plots in Guatamala, and he roasts them onsite. The coffee is good, the atmosphere is friendly, and there's plenty of room for social distancing. Nobody else was in the backyard while we were there, so we played there. Highly recommended place. Sure hope it's a success. It's great for the neighborhood.

This is the place you will want to go and just stay for a bit while you drink your coffee. So do yourself a favor and make the time to relax and linger. It is a stellar coffee shop.

Cute little coffee shop in a bungalow. Try the dirty horchata. Outdoor and indoor seating. Not much food options but try the tasty burritos and empanadas.

Staff is really nice, and the property itself is nice, but the coffee is horrendous. 7/11 coffee is far superior, and an eighth of the price.

I come here at least twice a week, in the morning, with my pup and SO. Very well decorated, clean and efficient. The coffee is sourced from Guatemala at above market price for an ethical supply chain.
They make a great latte — never burnt — and have some tasty breakfast empanadas. There’s a chorizo and egg that’s killer, especially if you throw on a little hot sauce.
Lately I’ve been hitting the pumpkin latte. It’s not too sweet and you get some good pumpkin flavor. They must use a purée.
I’ll also recommend the bagelitos (bagel bombs). All the pastries are from Fresh Baguette in Bethesda — delivered fresh every morning.
Enjoy!

Excellent! Must go. Great for kids and even quiet outdoor business meetings during COVID. They have at least five large benches for families to sit and enjoy their food. Perfect for business meetings b/c people can sit at least six feet apart outdoors and bring their computers.
Good for kids given healthy juice (no sugar) and other snack options - yogurt, snack pouches. Every option for the coffee enthusiast. And lastly, cute snacks inspired by both Latin America and NY! “Bagelitos” and even pizza.
Lastly the owner allows kids and others to come see the bean roasting process - done right on site!

Great addition to the neighborhood. I buy their beans to make coffee at home during the week, but still go in for iced lattes on the weekends. And my husband doesn’t drink coffee but loves their food offerings and chai!
