Excellent. I will visit this place for coffee every time I visit San Diego. Super unique and bright interior. If you want a nice bright place to meet up with someone for collaborative work, this is a great place. Did I mention it's bright in there, :)

One of the few places in SD hat you can get legit pour over coffee, or a latte with a foam leaf. SD doesn't seem to have gotten that far yet. Coffee designs? Nah, we've got sunshine instead. C&TC does a great job bringing the craft coffee business to the forefront -- while also bringing some class to El Cajon. Stop by for a coffee and stay for the excellent study space. PS did I mention they do waffles as well?

Woah. I just ordered an espresso because here because there was no whipped cream for a con panna, and it's BAD. Undrinkable bad & super sour :/ won't go back even though I like the location. Also, I ordered a double and I was charged $3 (the price of one shot) so I thought maybe he was just giving me a deal but alas, I only got a single.

Lava Rez

Trendy and pricey but still pretty nice! I didn't like their dirty chai tho. They make the chai blend themselves so im not sure if its the chai or the espresso thats the problem. Id still go there again to give it another "shot"! ;) The atmosphere is perfect for studying or early morning coffee dates.

Coffee & Tea Collective roast their beans with care and work hard to make each cup a pure representation of the coffee's potential. It is a small, comfortable cafe that graciously provides wifi. Their concrete coffee bar has benches, but I find it the perfect height to use as a standing desk. I'm 5'9" so I figure 2-3 inches up or down could do the same.

I want to say, right off the bat, that the coffee we had was honestly one of the best. The service, now, was not that great. The place has very limited sitting, so my wife and I had to sit at the bar. By the time we left it was super awkward because the place had filled up with weird looking hipsters that were giving us the "you don't belong here" look 😂

Very cool spot — similar to some more hip LA cafes, which I feel like are a bit tougher to come across in San Diego. Great coffee and tea drinks (and pastries), super friendly service, plenty of space to hang out, cool merchandise.

I called here and the guy behind the counter was ridiculously helpful. Usually you can hear the annoyance creep into someone's voice when you ask the a plethora of questions, but his stayed calm and collected, a true indicator that he is passionate about the bean. I didn't feel uncomfortable about knowing nothing about coffee, he was very nice when I came into the shop and ordered. I think this place also doubles as a pizza shop at night! Noiice!!

Excellent coffee. Has a very cool California skate shop and hipster coffee place vibe. There is a back room that looks fun, yet inaccessible. I enjoyed imagining chilling back there.

I found this place via Instagram, because (by design?) it is very instagrammable. Maybe it's the hipsters who patronize this shop that make it so.

This is where I go when I'm craving a good (and pretty) latte. It's $4, so a bit more than I usually pay for a latte - but I usually go when I'm treating myself.

I believe their kind of known for their pour overs, but when I go out for coffee, I like to get something I can't make at home.
