Some of the quickest service in all of Oakland. Even if there is a wait, put your name down and you will be seated very quickly. The food is delicious and the portions are very big. I always get their signature dish. Chow Jew Ho Fun, which has a clear broth and combination of seafood and meat protein. Highly suggest it. If you are hungry go for the large as it only is a couple of dollars more. They offer you free hot tea when you sit down. The food comes very quickly after the order placement.

The Fish Ball and Fish Cake Fun is awesome. Start with just a little hot sauce. You never know how spicy the sauce can be (Hint: home made crazy hot sauce). It is all home made! You don’t need to go to sauna once you finish the hot soup mixed with chili sauce.

Went with a friend and of course like any good restaurant when it's busy you know it's good. I've known this place for many years. They get you in, serve you fast, and get you out. Servers and staff always friendly and awesome. Highly recommend! Please support small business! I had the number 11. Wonton tried chau noodles.

At 2pm, after a long hike, I was feeling thirsty and hungry. A bowl of Vietnamese rice noodles sounded really good. So I walked in and sat down as the only customer. There were two elderly ladies manning the shop. They were both at least trilingual (Cantonese, Vietnamese, and English) and English was clearly their least favorite. No matter... the seafood rice noodle soup (with a clear broth) was delicious and the ice coffee with condensed milk really hit the spot. All this for just $16 plus tips. Can't beat it in this economy!

This place came highly recommended and it did not disappoint. We tried the Chow Jew noodle and seafood noodle (chose hor fun for both). The noodles had a nice chew and the broth came separately and is clean yet flavorful. The staff were very nice too. There’s a sauce station where you can get your own mix of condiments including homemade chiuchow chili oil! There is a huge bottle of hand sanitizer there and the staff ask you to clean your hands before handling the sauces. Will definitely be back!

Great restaurant and food. Had a party of six and wait time wasn't too long eventhough place was packed when we arrived there. Had the fried bird nest noodle. Noodles were crispy and vegetables blanched perfectly.

2nd time at Vien Huong and another lovely experience. The three of us came for a late lunch on Saturday. Place was quite full but we easily found a table and sat down.
Staff is friendly and place is casual. Bathrooms are really clean which is always nice. Cash only so come prepared ;)
Between the three of us we shared:
- steak bell pepper from house specials $13.5
- shrimp chow mein from the noodle menu $12
- rice
We weren't super hungry so this was quite enough for us three. We polished the plates! Food was really good and super light, not your typical greasy chinese I guess because it has more Vietnamese influence. We all loved the steak with bell peppers and not that impressed with the noodles. Would love to come back to try out their soups - yea we still haven't tried them boohoo!

Yummy noodle soup. This is one if the oldest establishments in Oakland Chinatown. It is like a smooth machine. They get u in, give u a menu along with some hot tea or cold water. As soon as u order your food, within a couple of minutes, your food is in front of u. U eat, u pay...Next customer... Love the food here..

Came across this place when I was looking for places that does the dry style of Hu tieu (Hu Tieu Kho). Unlike the traditional Vietnamese/Cambodian style Hu Tieu, this place offers to Teo Chow version which is very similar.
I grew up eating more egg noodles than rice noodles so I decided to #12 Mi Trieu Chau with soup on the side. I also ordered their sautéed kidney with ginger onion.
Their sautéed kidney was very flavorful and the kidney was perfectly cooked! Kidney is one of those things that are very hard to clean and cook properly and this place does it very well.
#12 with soup on the side brings me back to childhood. The noodles were the perfect texture with the right amount of oiliness that nothing sticks together. It was basically crack to me. The amount of noodles and toppings they give is very generous. I felt like I needed to be rolled out of the restaurant.
After discovering these place, my husband and I have gone back 3 more times in the span of 2 weeks. I highly recommend this place!
Pro-tip: they open pretty early, so try to go closer to opening time or relatively early as it gets busy and could have a wait closer to the usual brunch time.
