Awesome coffee - this is an artisan coffee roaster, far above the norm. Also great menu including an avocado toast that could win awards. You know it's going to be good when they serve the espresso with a mineral water chaser on a custom wooden & enameled board ..

Great coffee spot where I tried their Undertoe Coffee drink and creme filled brioche.

Trendy little coffee shop with many beverage/ small plate options. We enjoyed our time so much we tried to visit twice during our time in Monterey. The line can get extremely long so plan accordingly.

So happy for the team, they have something special here. The coffee is top notch, the atmosphere is great and the staff is friendly.

My only suggestion is to call whoever manages your WiFi system and ask him or her to toggle 5GHz to 20MHz on the frequency width. It’s currently at 80MHz and it’s using too many channels at once to send data. This is problematic because all the channels clog up with a handful of computers. That’s my suggestion, I’ll email later explaining it more in-depth but the WiFi could be improved. ☺️

They don't do breakfast sandwiches anymore!!!!

They're coffee is great, smooth and I enjoyed every sip.

However their breakfast options are pretty lacking and when you see prior google pictures showing hearty breakfast sandwiches, you look for something more than pastries.

We had their toast with peanut butter and bananas with honey. It was tasty, but we chose this place for our breakfast and left hungry....and thats why its a 3 out of 5.

Admittedly, having never seen it, I can't say anything about the bathroom. However, this establishment has the bricks that kicks. It's got the shocks that rocks. It's all over all the block and not just in that it's on the corner. This place eats - figuratively - and not with meat, cause you won't find any on the menu. And though I would ordinarily think that the lack of a good animal carcass (or two) on the menu was a bad thing, this place put my taste in a different head-space. Coffee? Quality. Decor? Chill and relaxed. Seating? Plentiful. Bikes on the ceiling? Plants on the wall? Lights hanging from thick ropes? Check.

Overall: Great Vibe, coffee, and location.

It’s hard to beat such a location that’s nice and chill inside, and I really like their selection of drinks and pastry. After you’re done you can easily walk downtown from there or by the pier. Parking is also easily accessible and abundant. I haven’t made this my go-to cafe but it will easily be. If you’re an introvert this is not necessarily the place for you, but there are really cafe’s that are off the beaten path in Monterey.

If you’re looking for those, consider some places in Sand City.

They need to put their entire menu up on that massive blank wall. Hopefully they are working on it but in the meantime be prepared to wait in line while the people ahead of you scan the tiny menu in front of the cashiers station.

I had the iced coffee and avocado toast. Avocado toast amazing, iced coffee not so much. The cup was filled to the brim with ice and their was too much almond milk instead of coffee. Check out the photo to see the color of my coffee.

They also make homemade sourdough loaves which I bought. $16 for coffee, toast, and loaf of bread. Very happy with that!

After riding bikes at 17 Mile drive. We cycled to Captain + Stoker. It was nice they had a bike rack. We ordered a flat white, a matcha latte, and an energy bite.
The flat white was delicious. It reminded me of early BBottle days. There matcha made with oat milk was also delicious.
The customer service experience was awesome too! We cannot wait to return...

Got the undertow Expresso and the Columbian pour over. Both excellent. Staff is very friendly. 10/10
