I have been going here since I was a little girl. This is a staple in the Bakersfield community just like some of the other restaurants around that area. Whatever you order will be delicious. I have gone there when I’m sick for their make you feel better chicken soup but when we went I had my usual chili verde! It’s so delicious but don’t get it confused with the regular restaurants chili verde in green sauce, oh no not here!! Red Chile and pork riblets. It’s the best in town. That’s my recommendation! This is a mom and pop restaurant and nothing has changed since is was little. They close early on Tuesday so be aware. Staff is always friendly and it will be your go to.

Very disappointed with the quality of the food and service! First off we weren't greeted at all when we entered the Cafe then when we finally approach a waiter and ask if we just sit at any table he points to a small clipboard on the wall and tells me to write my name on it and how many people I'm with. So after waiting a good 25 minutes we finally were sitted. So we order and get our food and my Chile Verde was so over cooked as if they put it in a microwave I couldn't believe it! So I ask to speak to the manager and he came as if he was already knew what I was going to tell him like he was prepared to hear what I was gonna say. So I tell him " Man this Chile Verde is so over cooked!" And he looks down at my half eaten plate and says "Well you at most of it you still have to pay for it!" So I told him "Look I'm not looking for a discount or anything I'm just letting you know!" And his smart remark back was "Well I sold 300 plates today and haven't heard anything!" After hearing that I just told him I'm not looking to debate with you just give me my receipt! Being that he was a manager I expected him to be way more courteous and helpful as to ask me how we can resolve the situation. Instead I get a defensive arrogant kid who was extremely rude and disrespectful in front of my mother. He had no shame and such a lack of compassion as he smirked at me walking away after I told him to just bring my receipt. This is no way to treat customers at all wether they are new or been coming for a long period of time! This establishment has changed majorly over the past couple years and not for the good. And this will be the last time I ever bring my business here or spend another dollar with them.

My best tip is to just go somewhere else cause this place has lost its reputation for great food and awesome customer service. And it breaks my heart to say that but I rather save my town the trouble then to allow this place anymore business.

The service here is great. They're very attentive and friendly, but the food... ugh. Last time I ate here my innards complained about it for hours. Also located in old town Kern, so you might worry about your car the whole time you're eating. I think I'll pass.

I don't live in Bakersfield anymore, but everytime I come home, I have to have breakfast with my parents here. This and Loma Linda are 2 of the best authentic Mexican restaurants here! It all tastes homemade. Such great comfort food!

I had high expectations. It was Eh. The interior has character. I walked in with my son on a Saturday around 2, they weren't busy. Maybe 4 tables. I wasn't acknowledged by either of the 4 workers. I had never been so I was unsure if I wait to be seated or if I should sit myself.
Once the food came and I was confused by what they brought to me. I wanted to try their Chile verde. This was just costillas de puerco with a Chile rojo. I thought they made a mistake but when I looked at other pictures online. Yup that was their "Chile verde" I decided to give it a try. Meat was way over fried and dry.
I've heard this is a good breakfast spot. I will give this place another try but next time for breakfast. Maybe it'll be better. 🤷‍♀️

The Arizona Cafe is an institution in Bakersfield, a fixture that stands alone in the authentic Mexican food division that has lasted decades without peer. It is quit simply the best of the best.
I treat myself to breakfast once a month ordering either Papas and Chorizo or Hevos Rancheros.
The Coffee is delish, very simple coffee without the brash bitterness usually found at other restaurants.
The wait staff is Always on top of their game making sure all is right with everyone. If you have never been there.....Go, Just Go.

It's a Diamond in the Heart of Old Bakersfield!♡☆♡☆!! Everytime we come in on for breakfast on the weekend it's packed. If ya want a quiet lunch after 1pm, this is also a good place. I swear they make the best chilequilles in town. Great Service and hospitality. It looks like an old bar but food and drink quality bring folks in. Basic menu makes choices and specialties tasty.

The BEST Mexican food in Bakersfield, absolutely! Oh my gosh, this is some tasty food. They need to wash and soak the tripe before cooking it, that will improve the taste immensely. Other than the tripe tasting kinda funky, the food is superb!

Best menudo in town. Lots of tripe, and a great spicy flavor. The chile verde has a fair amount of heat, but it is completely worth it. My husband wholeheartedly approved of it and the chile relleno. My little side enchilada was perfect too. Can't wait to go back.

This place has the best food. My family's been coming here for years. Some times they get so busy the service isn't as great but it doesn't matter because the food makes up for it.
