They seriously have the best espresso. Had a medium hot Cafe miel with almond milk & it was perfect. Lovely atmosphere polite staff. ❤😁

True Coffee has seriously the best coffee in the Madison area. I wouldn't call myself a coffee snob, but I avoid the larger chains as I feel the local businesses do it better. Ask for Amy and Devin as they're my favorite baristas. The food and service at True are two thumbs up. The cafe is nicely decorated with coffee bean burlap bags with comfortable seating areas. Give this place a visit when you're in the Fitchburg area. I also found that they're sold in HyVee!

Suuuuuper slow. The bakery is good, coffee ok, made to order food is pretty good too...it just takes forever. Coffee also takes a really long time. I wish they were more timely because its so close to my home and I'd like to go before work but it literally takes 10 minutes to get a latte. Although its about a mile from my home we never go. They can't seem to keep any staff, which affects timeliness and knowledge. I think with the right training of the staff and if they could keep employees it would be great. Maybe the staff needs to drink more coffee to speed up.

Their decaf MWP Brazil coffee is the best decaf ever. Service is top notch. Food is excellent. Nice sunny environment to sit, chat, and enjoy. And, they are located close to Pearle Vision, my other destination from HWY 60.

Do not get the pour over. Perhaps it varies by barista, but the one who poured mine has clearly not received adequate training in how to do proper pour over. She simply poured the hot water over the grounds filling the V60 and walked away. The entire brewing process took maybe 2:30 at the most. A proper V60 pour requires ~30 seconds pre-infusion/de-gassing and either continuous or pulse pouring until about three minutes until the final draw down. This is, of course, assuming that the filter was rinsed and other proper measurements were taken (water temperature, bean weight, grind, etc). I'm not confident that these were done either; I didn't pay attention. What was yielded was a flavorless cup of underextracted coffee.
This is too bad. I do like this place otherwise, which is why it gets four stars instead of one. I buy my beans here, which are generally good and inexpensive. The coffee shop has plenty of seating and a nice ambiance. Their normal drip coffee is generally fine (much better than this pour over for sure). Their baristas and staff are very friendly, attentive, and helpful. I can't comment on their food or espresso drinks. It's an overall above average coffee house aside from this pour over.

They personally hand select their beans from around the world and share the information about the farmer on the wall with giant maps made from locally sourced reclaimed materials. We have been fans of true since the beginning of their Madison West location. (Before the move to monona)
We now use the online APP to preorder and pickup; however out of 8 orders they have messed up 6 of them!Today we had ordered an iced latte (a majority of the mistakes are made from hot to iced orders). It was WRONG again, went back in they dumped a few iced cubes in, now watered down milk. Went back in and they made a new one. Whether it’s the app or the employees they need to figure it out; it’s not that hard and we’re losing patience.
