Places like this do exist! My interactions with Valhalla Coffee Company started when I found myself in need of guidance fixing my San Franciscan coffee roaster. Owner/operator/Roaster A.J. Anderson was kind enough to extend his expertise and point me in a direction to fix my coffee roaster. His kindness and willingness to extend his time and passion gave me pause. It's been a while since I have been on the receiving end of human kindness. Interacting with A.J. made me feel like I was a part of something special. It was a great reminder of how kindness, humility, love and community can fill you with joy and hope. Sometimes life, family and the day-to-day can really dull your perception of the world. A.J. was just what I needed to inspire me to be a part of the solution to make a difference. Not only do I owe A.J. a HUGE thank you for getting my roasting operation back up and running, but I also owe him a thank you for being a model for how I want I want to be seen in my community. When you shop here, know that you are supporting a business that is offering more than just amazing coffee.
Thank you, A.J.!

Valhalla coffee serves the best coffee and espresso I have had in Washington state. The flavor profile is strong and robust enough for Odin and his warriors. Anyone who has had this blessed liquid pass through their body should consider themselves lucky.

The place smells amazing. The roaster is right there so you can see wheree you beans were roasted. The baristas are extremely friendly and willing to answer any questions you may have. I highly recommend them to anyone who loves coffee.

Coffee is consistently really great! Service is a tad slow, so be prepared to wait for a while. Worth it though!

Valhalla coffee is some of the smoothest, yet bold coffee, ever!
It's a real treat.
We make sure to stop when we are in Tacoma.
And we always buy coffee to take home.

I had just flown in from LA on an early morning flight and as I approached Tacoma I decided to stop for some coffee. It seemed like I had passed more than a dozen SB’s along the way, but they are just not my sort of thing. So I googled “best coffee in Tacoma” and Valhalla appeared at the top of the list. So on a lark, I punched the “directions” tab and arrived here. The street and the exterior appeared to be somewhat nondescript. Yet, one step inside, just one whiff of that unmistakable aroma of a coffee Roastery and finally one look at the decor which exuded such character. I knew that I was in luck. I ordered a cappuccino in a glass cup. I was pre-warned that it would take a few minutes, I was OK with that, since results, not speed matter to me. And I can say this as a coffee connoisseur, and someone not prone to exaggeration, that this was the best cappuccino I have ever had in my entire life. I normally order my own fair trade small batch Kava Forest Ethiopian coffee directly, I fresh burr grind and use high pressure controlled pull espresso machines. I can never make anything as good as what I had today. I am here for another day, and I hope to go back and get some tips on how they are able to achieve such perfection.

I enjoyed my coffee here almost daily while in school. Now that they only serve through a window, it's no better than any drive through... except you have to find parking and walk up.

Great coffee and always wonderful staff. Can get busy but worth the wait.

I buy Valhalla beans when I am out of my own roast, and they're great. A bit more expensive than you'd pay at the grocery store, but you're paying for quality. The coffee brewed on site is excellent as well.
