Al fresco dining in a lovely mountain setting was wonderful. Good was rustic & delicious. Other patrons, apparently regulars, were very friendly. Be prepared to relax; it isn't fast food.

We always stop there for brunch on the way to the artist point, be it summer or winter, and it’s always absolutely delicious. Today we also stoped on the way back and dinner was amazing as well. All the dishes are unique takes on something familiar with wonderful flavors and textures. A delight.

Awesome cuisine! We did not have a reservation but they squeezed us in and so thankful we stopped! A ten in our book! So glad we found this great family owned and operated restaurant. We will definitely be back!

This is the most wonderful Italian food I have ever had! The food is fresh and beautifully presented, and the taste is a true delight! The staff was wonderful and welcoming, the Gnocchi, Veal Parmesan and the lasagna are the real thing! The latte's are an experience in themselves, served in a large bowl shaped cup! The dessert selections are really sensational. we had the tiramisu and the cheesecake. The atmosphere is so relaxing, the service was great, and did I mention the food was perfection? Don't miss out on the best kept secret in Whatcom County, or maybe all of Washington state.

We ate here for dinner service and really recommend this place. The ambiance is great and prices are reasonable for the quality of food and level of service.

My wife had the linguini and meatballs. The pasta was perfect al dente, and the three big meatballs were very flavorful.

I had the meat special of veal chop, brussel sprouts and polenta. Again everything was technically executed but my steak had too much salt and garlic on it. I love salty food and garlic so the first half of the steak tasted amazing but then it started to become overwhelming by the time I was done. The chef seemed to be educating some new cooks so maybe it was a one off issue. The brussel sprouts and polenta were perfect.

We'll be back on another trip to Mt Baker.

My Mum and I stopped by on our way home and the Smoked Salmon fettuccine was wonderful and so was The Andes meatloaf. The owner also makes an excellent cup of tea.

We have dined at Caffe Rifugio three times, and have been very impressed on each visit. Everything that has been said here is true, and then some - warm, eclectic atmosphere, a very creative, ever changing menu, and super friendly service. I emailed the chef with a special menu request, which he supplied with great gusto. We look forward to returning - five stars!

Aaah so good!! Delicious and unique pasta dishes, each one special. And the donut holes!!!! Wow, best donut holes I've had in my short life! A person in my group ordered the white lasagna, and their only complaint was that the brussel sprouts were quite mushy.

My family and I ate here and were told he could substitute anything and make it suitable for vegetarians. I ordered the Linguine without meatballs and so extremely disappointed with the price for what I got. The meal was $18 dollars and I could scoop up all the past with one lift of my fork. The noodles were hard and the sauce tasted like Prego from the store. When the bill came, he charged me the full $18 even though I didn't get meatballs which was probably most of the meals. I could pay $18 for a actual meal at a real Italian restaurant. I would not recommend this place if you want legit Italian food or want to pay for a good amount of food.
