Service started out a little slow. It was mid day on a Saturday, though; and, they were busy. Service was much better afterwards and the food was great. We will definitely go back. Best crabcakes; and make sure you get some hoecakes!

THIS PLACE IS AMAZING! We visit here every time we visit my wife's family. (Martha and Steve) It is a must. The food is unbelievably good with everything I have seen being freshly made. The country ham and mac n cheese are game-stoppers! Too many good things to say about this place so I will only rattle off a couple more - the history, adult ice cream, and a rare take-out beer find for me. (Aventius Schneider-Weisse)

We ordered take out for lunch on Sunday just before closing. They were very helpful, accomadating and gracious. Ordered ribs, crab cakes (dinner and sandwich), turkey Reuben, onion rings, smoked brisket sandwich and such. The crabcakes were outstanding as were the hocakes served with them, some of the best I have had - no fillers at all. Everything was delicious and fresh. We should have gone here the other night instead of Urbanna Seafood and Raw bar. We also got desserts for later...all was take out.
Would gladly go back again and not hesitate to recommend it to others. Thank you for your hospitality.

A truly great place in a truly great little town. The food is always delicious and portion size filling. But....but...the best thing about this place is that they are one of the few places on the East Coast that features my favorite treat from my California days....tri-tip roast! You can get an entree of this delicious beef cut or a sandwich. It is cooked perfectly and is a delight! I don't understand why this part of the cow is virtually unknown here, while in California it is easy to come by. It is also called triangle roast, but I would drive 100 miles out of my way just for the tri-tips!!!

It was my first time there and I got the flounder wasn't very good, but maybe I should have gotten something else. However the mac and cheese is amazing. Recommendations of what to order next time, if I go again?

My family went to Something Different over the July 4th weekend. It was quite busy. There was a band playing and a lot of people at the bar. The hostess told us it would be a 30 to 45 minute wait. It was 7:15 pm so we decided to stay thinking we would have a table by 8 pm. Come 8 pm we were told it would be another 15 minutes and we kept hearing it would be another 15 minutes until we were finally seated at 9 pm. So we waited a freaking hour and 45 minutes to get a freaking table. Unbelievable! Once seated the music was so loud that we could not talk to anyone at our table of 8 other than to the person next to you. When the waitress came to take our order all of us had to shout our order to be heard. What I don't understand is why have a band? It only promotes guests to eat dinner and camp out at their table to listen to the band and only slows turning tables to people like us who waited forever for a table. The owners need to decide whether they are running a restaurant or a bar. We will never go back when there is a band playing! It was an awful experience!!! It was the worst night out that I can remember at any restaurant in my 50+ years. Something Different was Something Awful that night!

Awesome atmosphere and great service.. the food was excellent. Best barbeque I've ever eaten in my life!!! definitely worth checking out if you're in town. I ate breakfast too and the coffee was great with scrapple and eggs..

Low key, down-to-earth, hearty and simple food well done. Good coffee. A collection of beer bottles lines one brick wall, burlap coffee bean sacks on the other. Seems to be run by earnest young folks trying to do right by the world. Well worth the short detour off the Tidewater Trail.

Our family and friends took an overnight trip to Urbanna. We decided to dine on our boat because it was a beautiful night so we ordered entrees to go for all. Chicken and ribs, chicken and brisket, crab cakes, grill cheese, she crab soup.......it was all so delicious. It was more the we could eat so there was great left overs. We liked it so much we returned for breakfast. The Virginian is usually our go to breakfast place but....we wanted Something Different. Once again fantastic! and more than enough food.

Very nice atmosphere. Service was good and friendly. Food; Southern comfort sandwich was good but way too salty. Jack and H20 was perfectly fine.
