I’ve been coming to Something Different for about 13 years when I visit my parents in Urbanna. It’s a great local institution.
Back in the day when the founder was still alive I would have given them 5 stars, he ran a tight ship and had perfected all the recipes. Now, the quality control is virtually non-existent. Every time you order a dish it will be a bit different these days, giving a new meaning to the name.
It’s still a great local hangout, and the service staff is excellent. Probably the best bar in town, but it’s a bit pricey for drinks.
Still worth a visit for local color.

Have only eaten there twice but both times the food and service were excellent. Stepping into the the unassuming storefront entrance takes you back to bygone days. The original floors and tin tin ceiling are beautifully worn. But the food! Wow, the menu descriptions do not do the dishes justice. Most recently I had the Mixto, a local twist on a traditional Cuban sandwich. Generous portion, with pulled pork , Swiss cheese, mustard and pickles. The flavor of the pork, smoked and pulled on site, was perfection withe right balance of pickle and mustard. I ordered a side of onion rings, which were great, but I couldn't finish them because the sandwich was huge and my priority! If I lived in Urbanna I would eat there every day!

When my daughter and I went to Something Different tonight, we had the worst experience that we’ve ever had here. There was a band playing so they were very busy. The hostess seemed a bit inefficient. She states that there would be a 20 min wait and we had to ask her about sitting in their other room, wait to be seated. She thought we were there to just have drinks so we never got placed on the waiting list to be seated. While we were waiting to be seated, a waiter came into the room we were in and bypassed us to talk to the band who was waiting to perform. They talked for 5 min before acknowledging that we were there. It’s after we told him that we were waiting to be seated that we found out there was miscommunication and we weren’t placed on the list to be seated. About 5 min later, the owner apologizes and assured us that we would be seated soon. However, we saw other people being seated before us. When we brought up this issue, the hostess said that they got there before us. Needless to say, I wouldn’t go here on the nights that they have bands playing because the establishment isn’t big enough to accommodate the amount of customers that it brings in during those nights.

Our second time here, everything was wonderful! Great iced tea; yummy appetizers; our meal and dessert were delicious! The service is amazing and everyone here is friendly. Sounds too good to be true BUT it is!!!

This is a great restaurant. Drove there from williamsburg va just to have lunch. From the brisket to the ruben to the soft shell crabs , lunch was fabulous. Their attention to every detail is extraordinary. Iced tea, home made chips, amazing onion rings, all perfectly prepared and beautifully displayed. Oh yeah and i bought a buttermilk pie for the road!!! Delicious!!!!!!

The Wife and I visited last night for the first time. We were greeted with the nicest hostess I believe I have ever encountered. It was homecoming night so it was busy and we waited for a while for a table however It was definitely worth the wait. The food was outstanding and was all homemade. My had the Tri tip sandwich to which the meat was incredible and I had the hamburger on their homemade bun which was very good. We are certain to return to try more of their menu. Thank you for a great meal!

Visiting for a long weekend...

This is an awesome restaurant and bar! Great selection of craft beers on tap and bottled, full bar with specialty drinks at fair prices.

Food - portions are HUGE and that is a good thing (: prices are super reasonable for what you get - everything was cooked perfectly everytime we visited (I would recommend BBQ for dinner/ lunch and any of the omelets for breakfast.) Breakfast served until 3pm.

Service - excellent every time. Food came out as soon as it was ready, hot meal in front of us each visit. Everyone was very friendly and customer service was obviously a huge priority. We especially liked Charles at the bar! He was very attentive, has acute attention to detail, and is very personable.

Extras - SAVE ROOM FOR DESSERT! Boozy ice cream and delicious pies (: there is also a small bottle shop and ice cream shop attached. This is a place worth multiple visits!!!

Awesome little spot. They had a live band and the food was amazing.

If you are in the area and want good brisket, ribs, or a fairly limited selection of seafood (soft shell crabs, salmon, crab cakes, or flounder) then this is a good spot for you.

AWESOME! We ate at the restaurant this spring and it was so good we had a family event catered this summer. The food, the service and the people are awesome. I highly recommend Something Different! Everything is made fresh on premises, the rolls are to die for, the best I have after had.

This is one of our go to places for great food and fun atmosphere! We just had our Thanksgiving Turkey smoked by the gang and it was/is great. Nice smoky flavor without over powering the bird. Great job Y'all!!
